Historical Romance & a Romantic Suspense

  • A Night to Surrender

A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare

RECOMMENDED: A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare is $2.49! This is the first book in the much loved Spindle Cove series. Sarah has really enjoyed this series (though she says this one was her least favorite of the books). She also says the setting is wonderful and the characters, especially the women, are fantastic. What’s your favorite book in the series?

Spindle Cove is the destination of choice for certain types of well-bred young ladies: the painfully shy, young wives disenchanted with matrimony, and young girls too enchanted with the wrong men; it is a haven for those who live there.

Victor Bramwell, the new Earl of Rycliff, knows he doesn’t belong here. So far as he can tell, there’s nothing in this place but spinsters . . .and sheep. But he has no choice, he has orders to gather a militia. It’s a simple mission, made complicated by the spirited, exquisite Susanna Finch–a woman who is determined to save her personal utopia from the invasion of Bram’s makeshift army.

Susanna has no use for aggravating men; Bram has sworn off interfering women. The scene is set for an epic battle; but who can be named the winner when both have so much to lose?

  • My Rogue, My Ruin

My Rogue, My Ruin by Amalie Howard

My Rogue, My Ruin by Amalie Howard & Angie Morgan is 99c! This is book one in the Lords of Essex series and feels a hero with a Robin Hood-esque alter ego. Readers loved the sense of adventure in the romance, but found it was a little anachronistic.

He stole their riches, she stole his heart.

The Marquess of Hawksfield’s lineage is impeccable and his title coveted, but Archer Croft is as far from his indulgent peers as he can get. His loathing for the beau monde has driven him to don a secret identity and risk everything in order to steal their riches and distribute them to the less fortunate.

Lady Briannon Findlay embraces her encounter with the Masked Marauder, a gentleman thief waylaying carriages from London to Essex. The marauder has stirred Brynn’s craving for adventure, and she discovers an attraction deeper than the charming thief’s mask.

Brynn is a revelation, matching Archer in intelligence, wit, and passion. Stubborn and sensuous in equal measure, she astonishes him at every turn, but when someone sinister impersonates Archer’s secret personality, and a murder is committed, Archer begins to think he doesn’t stand a fighting chance without her.

  • Accidentally Compromising the Duke

Accidentally Compromising the Duke by Stacy Reid

Accidentally Compromising the Duke by Stacy Reid is 99c! This book is first in the Wedded by Scandal series. Readers loved the hero and heroine, while others felt there wasn’t enough plot and intrigue, and that it had too much sex. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

    England, 1817.

Miss Adeline Hays is out of options. Determined to escape marriage to a repugnant earl, Adeline plans to deliberately allow herself to be caught in a compromising position at a house party with the much kinder man she’d hoped to marry. Instead, Adeline accidentally enters the wrong chamber and tumbles into the bed of the mad duke.

Edmond Rochester, the duke of Wolverton, is seeking a wife to care for his two daughters. A young lady of sensibilities, accomplishment, and most importantly, one who he is not attracted to—a complete opposite of the bewitching beauty who traps him into marriage. But despite the lust he feels for his new duchess, Edmond is resolved to never allow them intimacy, refusing to ever again suffer the tormenting loss of a loved one.

  • Whiteout

    Whiteout by Adriana Anders

RECOMMENDED: Whiteout by Adriana Anders is $1.99! Elyse gave this one an A-:

I love romantic suspense with survival elements (especially cold weather survival) and I also really enjoyed the espionage/global threat aspect of the mystery. I wish I’d read the prequel novella first, but it wasn’t a huge issue, and I’m delighted to have a new series to look forward to.

Angel Smith is finally ready to leave Antarctica for a second chance at life. But on what was meant to be her last day, the remote research station she’s been calling home is attacked. Hunted and scared, she and irritatingly gorgeous glaciologist Ford Cooper barely make it out with their lives…only to realize that in a place this remote, there’s nowhere left to run.

Isolated with no power, no way to contact the outside world, and a madman at their heels, Angel and Ford must fight to survive in the most inhospitable—and beautiful—place on earth. But what starts as a partnership born of necessity quickly turns into an urgent connection that burns bright and hot. They both know there is little chance of making it out alive, and yet they are determined to survive against the odds—and possibly, the world.

The prequel to Adriana Anders’s WHITEOUT is called DEEP BLUE (the heroes of the two books are brothers). Although you don’t have to read it in order to read WHITEOUT, DEEP BLUE can be found in the TURN THE TIDE anthology which is currently free in the kindle store:

It’s always fun when I find out I already own exactly all of these but forgot, because my tbr list is ridiculously long!

  3. Vår says:

I just need to say this: I love the cover of the Stacy Reid book. I’ver read it; just can’t remember it all that well (doesn’t at all mean it’s not good. It probably is. I’m just not all that into the whole widower thing).

But oh, that cover… I think it’s the colour. And the arch of the H’s back. You know…

I like the Spindle Cove series. A WEEK TO BE WICKED is – of course wonderful. And Friday I reread DO YOU WANT TO START A SCANDAL, which is equally sweet 🙂

  4. Emily C says:

I absolutely agree with Sarah – A Night to Surrender is probably the weakest of the books in the Spindle Cove series. A Week to be Wicked is unquestionably the best of the series but Any Duchess Will Do is my sentimental favorite (I mean, what’s a girl got to do to open a bookshop?)

  5. Crystal F. says:

I didn’t ‘dislike’ A Night To Surrender, it just wasn’t as strong an installment as A Week To Be Wicked and Any Duchess Will Do. Though I did like the main characters. The one book/novella I didn’t really care for in the series was Lord Dashwood Missed Out.

  6. Michelle T says:

whiteout I really enjoyed. I found it when it was recommended or advertised as being on sale last time on this site.

  7. Stefanie Magura says:

I doubt anyone will see this comment, but it looks like all the books in Amalie Howard and Angie Morgan’s lords of Essex Series are $0.99 each. The same currently goes for all the books in Stacy Reid’s Wedded by Scandal Series.
