You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!
This HaBO comes from Bojana, who is trying to track down this book:
This book was set in Florida (maybe the Keys?) on the brink of a hurricane. An idealistic woman had chained herself to a tree to stop the demolition and redevelopment of her grandmother’s mobile home/weekly motel of which she has fond memories. The developer guy is super hot. He tries to get her to unchain herself so he can demolish the place. Sparks fly. I don’t remember much else. I probably read it 3-4 years ago, but don’t know when it was published.
I do remember that the author writes under several pseudonyms and that she wrote another book under a different pseudonym that I loved that was more of a New Adult book about a girl who is cyber bullied in college and this guy is her champion. He has some kind of secret dark past that makes him think he can’t be with her and they are not together at the end of the book. That book is part of a duo of books.
Not sure if Bojana needs help identifying both books, but tracking down one is bound to point us in the direction for the other.
Roman Holiday by Ruthie Knox
Yup. Roman Holiday by Knox and possibly Deeper written as Robin York.
Yes! Definitely Roman Holiday under Ruthie Knox and Deeper / Harder under Robin York. This is one of the only HaBos I’ve ever known 😀
That was quick
Damn. Didn’t read that’s Ruthie Knox, but ID-ed the Robin York! Nicely done, all who were faster than me. 🙂
@Cat C
I never know the HaBOs either, but I love me some Ruthie Knox.
Amazingly, the “chaining herself to a stationary object to prevent demolition/development and then catching the eye of the hot developer” occurs in more than one book (there truly is nothing new under the sun), so if this is your catnip, Callie Harper’s UNBELIEVABLE has a very similar beginning. Heroine is trying to stop a development that would demolish her bakery and chains herself to a fence in protest. Hero is the developer (a billionaire—natch!). Enemies-to-lovers ensues.
Thank you fellow readers- so exciting to get the author name so I can do a deep dive on the rest of the author’s catalog!
