  • The Chocolate Touch

The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand

RECOMMENDED: The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand is $2.99! This contemporary romance was a Sizzling Book Club pick in September 2013. For many, Florand is an auto-buy author and the descriptions of chocolate were downright dangerous. A few readers felt that some scenes dialed up the angst too high, but the book maintains a 4-star rating on GoodReads.

    La Vie en Chocolat

Dominique Richard’s reputation says it all–wild past, wilder flavors, black leather and smoldering heat. Jaime Corey is hardly the first woman to be drawn to all that dark, delicious danger. Sitting in Dom’s opulent chocolaterie in Paris day after day, she lets his decadent creations restore her weary body and spirit, understanding that the man himself is entirely beyond her grasp.

Until he touches her. . .

Chocolate, Dominique understands–from the biting tang of lime-caramel to the most complex infusions of jasmine, lemon-thyme, and cayenne. But this shy, freckled American who sits alone in his salon, quietly sampling his exquisite confections as if she can’t get enough of them–enough of him–is something else. She has secrets too, he can tell. Of course if she really knew him, she would run.

Yet once you have spotted your heart’s true craving, simply looking is no longer enough. . .

  • Glutton for Pleasure

Glutton for Pleasure by Alisha Rai

Glutton for Pleasure by Alisha Rai is 99c! This is an erotic menage romance with a heroine who works as a chef in her family’s Indian restaurant. Some readers disliked that the two heroes partake in kink because of prior experiences with abuse, but many loved the heroine. Any readers out there interested?

They’re craving something sweet. She likes it spicy.

Devi Malik knows how to heat things up. She does it every night as head chef in her family’s Indian restaurant. Her love life, though, is stuck in the subzero freezer. Now, with a chance to fulfill a secret fantasy with her long-time crush and his brother, it’s time to put her desire on the front two burners.

For Marcus Callahan, a love-’em-and-leave-’em attitude isn’t only a necessary evil of their kink. It’s a protective device. Lately, though, his brother Jace has been making noises about craving something more.

Jace’s dissatisfaction with their lifestyle grows with every glimpse of sweet little Devi. Yet Marcus is too haunted by the pain of their shared past to give love a chance.

Despite their reputation for vanishing with the dawn, they discover one night with Devi isn’t nearly enough. And Devi finds herself falling in love with two very different men.

It’ll take more than explosive sex to light up the shadows surrounding the Callahan brothers’ secrets. But Devi’s never been afraid of the dark…

  • Enslaved

    Enslaved by Elisabeth Naughton

Enslaved by Elisabeth Naughton is $1.99! This is a paranormal romance and the fifth book in Naughton’s Eternal Guardians series. And that cover…a girl can appreciate some good back muscles. Readers loved the combination of the tortured hero and the outcast heroine, but fans of the series seemed to prefer the previous books. Any members of the Bitchery care to comment?

GRYPHON—Honorable, loyal, dependable…tainted. He was the ultimate warrior before imprisonment in the Underworld changed him in ways he can’t ignore.

She calls to him. Come to me. You can’t resist. But Gryphon will not allow himself to be ruled by the insidious whispers in his head. And there’s only one way to stop them: kill Atalanta, the goddess who enslaved him. But with so much darkness inside, he can’t be sure what’s real anymore. Even the Eternal Guardians, those who protect the human realms and the gods, want to exile him.

Finding Malea is like a miracle. Somehow he doesn’t feel the pull of the dark when she’s near. And he’s determined to keep her as near as possible, whether she wants him close or not. But she’s a temptation that will test every bit of control he has left. One that may ultimately have the power to send him back to the Underworld…or free him from his chains for good.

  • Vikings and Vampires

Vikings and Vampires by Sandra Hill

Vikings and Vampires by Sandra Hill is $1.99! This is technically a set of three books, all of which are first installments in three different series – Viking IViking II, and Deadly Angels. So if you want an introduction to Sandra Hill, now’s your chance. All three titles range from a 3.7 to a 3.9 on GoodReads.

VIKINGS, VAMPIRES, AND VANGELS, OH, MY!

Sizzling Starts to Three Super Series

    The Reluctant Viking

The hypnotic voice on the self-motivation tape was supposed to help Ruby Jordan solve her problems, not create new ones. Instead, she was lulled from a failing marriage to an era of hard-bodied warriors and fair maidens.

But the world ten centuries in the past didn’t prove to be all mead and mirth. Ruby had to deal with a Norseman who had her husband’s face, habits, and desire to avoid Ruby. Determined not to lose the same man twice, Ruby planned a bold seduction that would conquer the reluctant Viking—and make him an eager captive of her love.

    The Last Viking

He wore nothing but a leather tunic, spoke in an ancient tongue . . . and he was standing in Professor Meredith Foster’s living room.

The medieval historian told herself he was part of a practical joke, but with his wide gold belt, callused hands, and the rabbit roasting in her fireplace, the brawny stranger seemed so . . . authentic.

Suddenly Meredith was mesmerized by his bronzed, muscular form, and her body surrendered to the fantasy that Geirolf Ericsson really was a Viking from a thousand years ago, sent only to pleasure her. But as she tried to teach him to eat spaghetti and use a computer, she realized he knew an awful lot about the tenth century—and so little about this one. And as he helped her fulfill her grandfather’s dream of re-creating a Viking ship, he awakened her to dreams of her own. Until she wondered if the hand of fate had thrust her into the loving arms of . . . The Last Viking

    Kiss of Pride

Some men are too bad to be true . . .

Is he really a Viking with a vampire’s bite? An angel with the body of a thunder god? A lone wolf with love on his mind? Alexandra Kelly, his prey, thinks Vikar Sigurdsson is either flat-out crazy or he’s trying to maneuver her into his bed—which is hardly where a professional reporter should conduct an interview, tempting as that prospect might be.

And some men are too good to be true . . .

Until Vikar does something a teensy bit unexpected, and Alex begins to wonder whether her mystery man could really be everything he says he is: a Viking Vampire Angel on a thousand-year-long mission with his pack of sinful brothers—and a man who’s finally found the woman of his dreams. By then, Vikar is already wrapping his chiseled arms around Alex’s body . . . and sinking his wicked fangs right into her neck. If this is sin, why does it feel so good?

  • The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris

The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan

The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan is $1.99! Chocolate, France, what more could you want? This is more women’s fiction than romance, and the book follows the story of two women who share a connection with the culinary world. Though the book is sweet, some felt it was a little predictable.

Inside Paris’s premiere chocolate shop, sometimes dreams really can come true.

It’s true that Anna Trent is a supervisor in a chocolate factory…but that doesn’t necessarily mean she knows how to make chocolate. And when a fateful accident gives her the opportunity to work at Paris’s elite chocolatier Le Chapeau Chocolat, Anna expects to be outed as a fraud. After all, there is a world of difference between chalky, mass-produced English chocolate and the gourmet confections Anna’s new boss creates. But with a bit of luck and a lot of patience, Anna might learn that the sweetest things in life are always worth working for.

Hopeful, laugh-out-loud funny, and irresistibly addictive, The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris is a novel worth savoring.

  1. ppyajunebug says:

I have to say, if you like your romances with a strong dose of crazysauce, that Sandra Hill deal is pretty sweet. I read the vampire one (actually, they’re Viking vampire angels because why not?) and the crazy is strong with that one.

  2. Leah says:

I read part of the first of Sandra Hill’s Deadly Angels books, and I just remember my brain going “????” the whole time. It’s VERY weird, and I have a weird intolerance for any media that tries to be serious and silly at the same time. (Ask me about how disappointed my husband was in my reaction to the John Quixote Farscape episode.) I think I got as far as the big, manly hero playfully walking up behind who I think was supposed to be the heroine and biting her on the butt. Which, again, “????”, though admittedly I had difficulty adjusting to the way it had just leapt forward in time. It’s the sort of thing you might enjoy if you like goofiness to your books to lighten up plots, but I found the tone a little inconsistent. I am an admitted picky curmudgeon at times though, so your mileage may vary.

RE: Characters being into kink as a result of trauma. I wish I could remember the name of the book I read a while back on Kindle that dealt with this in a fairly tactful, thoughtful way. The hero wasn’t “broken”, but he’d found that his D/s lifestyle (which I want to say he would “flip” in) helped him work through his feelings and hangups in a healthy way, and he was surrounded by people who were just into kink because they liked it, who loved, supported, and cared for him. He didn’t need to be cured of his kink, and it was still something he just enjoyed for fun, but it had helped him deal with his feelings and past. The actual plot itself was a little dull and mostly there for the two main characters to meet up and HOOK up, but I remember noting and appreciating the way kink was displayed as something both fun and emotionally helpful to a variety of people. Have to see if I can track it down.

  3. I was heroically resisting the lure of the Sandra Hill anthology until I saw ppyajunebug’s comment, and now I kind of have to buy it. You know, for science.

  4. Melissandre says:

The crazy is also strong with The Last Viking. The time-traveling Viking hero has an unhealthy fancrush on Tim the Toolman Taylor. It took up waaaay too much of the book. Was not a fan of the heroine either…

  5. Jamie says:

I actually just finished reading Glutton foe Pleasure and honestly I loved it. As someone who actually does practice kink, you see people using it to help them overcome a lot of things. Sometimes it’s healthy, and sometimes it’s not so healthy.

In this, I felt like their one night stands were their therapy, not the D/s. I also felt they were pretty damn well adjusted for their trauma, but I was glad to see the heroine urging thrm to seek professional help too. Overall, I loved their triad and I loved the book.

Smart Bitches, you guys should do a review!
