Six Years of Bitchin: The Winner!

Thank you to everyone who entered our Sixth Anniversary giveaway – I loved reading all your answers as to why you love romances. It was a total celebration in the comments – thank you!! And special thanks to Kate who sent me an email with a gift:

Okay, I know you know Maureen Johnson, and perhaps you are aware of her proud tradition of #crapfts?

In honor of your sixth anniversary, I have crapfted you a (virtual) present:

It depicts, as you can see (well, maybe you can), a heroine with flowing golden tresses and huge blue eyes and a rosebud mouth.*  She is clutching to her (heaving) bosom a romance novel, because romance novels are the true love of her life.

* There is also the possibility that it’s Fabio in a pink evening gown.

You will note that there is also a rainbow emerging from her backside.  I considered blue flames or the more traditional oddly-colored mist, but in the end a rainbow seemed most appropriate.  I did include the traditional rearing horse, although I almost gave up on him because horses turn out to be surprisingly difficult to draw in MS Paint.

I drew this just to amuse myself, but I’ve been laughing at it for half an hour now, so I thought I’d share. Happy anniversary! Thanks for all you’ve given us in the last six years.

Oh, my GOD, you guys. Feast your eyes on this! (Click to embiggenate.) Thank you, Kate!

So with that pink crowning achievement looming over us, it’s time to announce the winner of the giveaway! The winner, drawn by the Random Integer Generator, wins 4lbs of chocolate covered cherries, an iron, a 5lb bag of wood, and a Hello Kitty vibrator – because the traditional and modern gifts for a sixth anniversary are candy, iron, and wood! And the winner is… Pam at 10:42am! Congratulations Pam – please email me at sarahATsmartbitchestrashybooksDOTcom with your mailing address, so you can enjoy some ironing, chocolate, and, um, wood

Thank you to everyone who entered for both the anniversary wishes and the wonderful reminders of how much we love romance and why. I have joked that the romance readership is so diverse that the only thing to romance readers may have in common with one another is a book they both liked, but after reading that list, I’m reminded that we have a lot more in common than just books. Thanks for coming by every day to celebrate and giggle and critique and comment upon romance. Happy anniversary to you!
