Hell Yeah, Folks Won Some Heyer

Thanks to the random integer generator, we have ten winners! The commenters who shall each receive a copy of a Georgette Heyer novel from Sourcebooks are:

Leah

Kalen Hughes

Melissa
aly army
Laura Heilman
phadem
danae
KimmyL

rooruu

Sandia
Virginia
Meriam

Congratulations and thanks for playing. Please let me know what you think of the book you win, y’all, because I’m trying desperately to stop myself from buying most of her backlist in one swoop. Big ups and thank you to Sourcebooks for the prizes, and for making my shopping an exercise in temptation.

ETA: Kalen says, “I have every Heyer known to romance. So please, skip me and pick another winner!” So I did. Thanks, Kalen.

Random Integer Ahoy! And the lucky winner #169 is…Virginia. Yay!

ETA: Aaaand we’re doing it again! Rooruu says she’s on the Heyer bandwagon, too: “please do run the random generator again and let it pick a new fan to introduce to Heyer – I hope it’s someone who hasn’t read ‘em before.”

Bitchery readers are some generous and kind folks, I tell you.

The random integer generator says, 86! so: Meriam, you win some Heyer!  Congrats to Meriam!

It’s okay: you don’t have to buy the entire Heyer backlist. You wouldn’t be missing so very much if you left off Beauvallet, and Powder and Patch, and Simon the Coldheart (and, if you’re also collecting the detective fiction, Footsteps in the Dark is eminently missable – but don’t leave out Envious Casca, whatever you do).

    There. Problem solved.

  2. phadem says:

Popping in real quick to say thank you! Congrats to all the winners!

  3. Lori says:

Congrats winners! I’m *sob* so happy for you *sob*.

  4. KimberlyD says:

I knew I shoulda said something just to enter. But I’ve never read any Heyer so I didn’t have a memory to share. Dammit! Ah well, time to visit my library again anyway.

  5. Congrats to the winners!  I almost envy you first timers.  There’s nothing like that initial Heyer wonderfulness, where you keep reading and laughing and thinking “Yes!  That’s how it ought to be done!”

  6. azteclady says:

    Congrats to the winners!

Thank you, Smart Bitches, you rock the house! (but you know that 😀 )

  7. Kalen Hughes says:

Am I the only one who wants to hear back from the winners? *grin*

  8. SonomaLass says:

Like Lori, I am *sniff* very happy for the winners.

I just finished my first Heyer a couple of days ago, Cotillion.  You’re right, Darlene, it was a wonderful experience, full of laughter.  I thought I was going to be disappointed at the ending, but she brought it all around quite skillfullly.

I will be making a list of what isn’t in our fabulous county library collection, so that I know what I need to buy.  Thanks, phoebesmum, for the advice on which ones I ight skip.  Simon the Coldheart sounds familiar—I’m sure someone dissed it recently, either here or at DA.

Thanks again, SB Sarah, for introducing more of us to this wonderful author!

  9. SusannaG says:

    Congrats, you lucky winners!

  10. Meriam says:

A late winner – and very happy about it, too!

I read Heyer when I was too poor/ young to buy most of my books, so although I’ve read practically everything by her, I don’t own most of them. In the back of my mind, I always intended to buy first editions (in a future where I am extraordinarily rich), but this should do nicely in the meantime…

(BTW, I wish someone had warned me about Footsteps in the Dark… I advise anyone trying her otherwise excellent mysteries to stay away from this one).

  11. Trumystique says:

Thank you SBs. Your contest made me think of picking up another Heyer novel ( I had read Venetia and Beauvallet and thought they were meh). But I picked up The Corinthian and I am in love!!!
