This HaBO is from Judy, who is hoping to find this romance:
It’s a historical romance.
I remember a notorious madam us blackmailing all her former clients by sending a letter asking for money and threatening to put their name in the paper if they don’t comply.
I also remember that the heroine challenges the madam to a duel.
I loved the book, but can’t remember title or author.
This one sounds interesting! Does anyone know it?
An Amanda Quick/Jayne Anne Krentz, but I’m not sure which one and I’m not at home to check. One of the early one-word titles.
I think this might be DANGEROUS, indeed by Amanda Quick/Jayne Anne, @MelMc. While the blurb doesn’t mention the duel, I seem to recall the heroine challenging a madam to a duel to protect the earl she’s fallen for. I’ll have to pull it out of the archives on my Kindle and reread it, as I recall it was a fun one.
Amanda Quick -Seduction
I just checked and I second Seduction.
Another nod for Seduction by Amanda Quick. It was the first historical romance she wrote and it has aged well. I still reread it regularly.
The woman wasn’t a madam, but a courtesan — modeled loosely on Harriet Wilson, who did indeed write a memoir, which sold quite well!
