For our favorite reads, we had to choose one favorite read of 2024, but everyone is allowed two bonus picks for books not released this year. However, Sarah is ever the rulebreaker and her picks are all from this year! Here are our favorites of the year! We’d also love to hear about your best read of 2024!
Hey, ho! Let’s go (read some Wednesday Links)! I had a big productive weekend and I’m still riding that high or I was…until I started getting the telltale pre-period discomfort. Welp, it was nice while it lasted. Speaking of periods, I posted about this on the SBTB Instagram. I discovered the Menstruation Crustacean in a local store and then discovered there are two more varieties: a crab and a shrimp. I think shape-wise, I’d prefer … Continue reading Links: Libraries, Rodeos, & More →

RECOMMENDED: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is $1.99! This is part of today’s 10-pages of fantasy and paranormal Kindle Daily Deals! I would liken this book to women’s fiction with a magical realism slant. It’s heartwarming and beautiful. I even wrote a Keeper Shelf squee for it; that’s how much I love this book.

The A Court of Thorns and Roses Bundle by Sarah J. Maas is $5.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and so far, isn’t being price-matched. This collections books 1-3 in the series, plus a novella. I believe that’s the first full story arc. Normally, this bundle would retail for over $45, so this is a steal!

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas is $2.99! We did two podcast episodes with Sarah over the pandemic and honestly, those episodes were so much fun to record. Ellen wrote a fantastic review and gave it a B-:
When I started this book, I was expecting a jam-packed, over-the top fantasy with a lot of snark and heart. And House of Earth and Blood did deliver that, even if there were some missteps in execution. If you’ve enjoyed Maas’ other books, and if you can handle all the violence and slavery and slut-shaming, it’s worth it to push through the awkward beginning and the dragging bits in the middle for big payoff at the end.

This review was brought to you in high-definition and surround sound by Crystal Anne with An E. Crystal is a Hufflepuff who works as an autism consultant by day and goes to Library School at night. She reads a lot, she cross-stitches a lot, and is always ready to make someone a reading list. … CW/TW: The protagonist of this book has experienced significant trauma, including sexual assault. Stay safe, my friends. So in recent … Continue reading Guest Review: A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas →
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), but we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading February 2021 New Releases, Part Two →
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is $2.99! This book and series is insanely popular and has Beauty and the Beast elements. However, some felt it didn’t live up to the hype or it had too much sexxxytimes for a YA-positioned book and feels more New Adult. I believe most of the books in the series are part of today’s KDD in anticipation of Maas’ new release.
