RECOMMENDED: Witch King by Martha Wells is $2.99! Carrie reviewed this and gave it a B+:
The biggest thing you need to know about Witch King is that it is very different from Murderbot. If you are hoping for a fantasy version of Murderbot you will be disappointed. The tone is different, the humor, when it exists, is dryer, the scope is different, and the violence is dialed waaayyy up. However, on its own merits, Witch King is a complex, interesting fantasy novel that keeps two timelines moving and introduces a group of allies who gel into a found family.

Happy Wednesday! How is everyone? Another “all sides” Thanksgiving in the book! Thank you everyone who reached out about gluten free recipes or helpful blogs. I caught norovirus the weekend prior, so that was very fun for me. I did manage to feel well enough to eat come Thanksgiving and my only disappointment was that my partner didn’t make a double batch of mashed potatoes. They usually put a little sage and brown butter in … Continue reading Links: Trading Cards, Martha Wells, & More →
When we talked about DNFing books and why, a few of y’all asked if we could talk about re-reading, which is a popular antidote to Too Many DNFs in a Row. PamG wrote in the comments: I think it would be an interesting counterpoint to the DNF question to also discuss the practice of rereading. Some people never reread a book or so they claim. Others, myself included, have whole stables of books they gleefully … Continue reading Your Top Three Re-Reads — And Why! →
Will They or Won’t They by Ava Wilder is $4.99! This is an enemies to lovers story with two actors who play love interests on-screen. Wilder’s debut How to Fake It in Hollywood had a lot of recommendations on the site, but I think this one isn’t as beloved.

System Collapse by Martha Wells is $2.99! This is the seventh book in the Murderbot series. I asked Sarah if you can jump in here. She said:
I think so. Obviously there’s more depth if you know the history, but Wells is a very strong writer and I think readers can start there if they wish. They’ll probably want to read all of them, which I support!

Hey ho! Let’s go! Though I scheduled this post a couple weeks ago, I’m an officially in South Korea by the time you’re reading this. I’m sure I’m having a great time. We plan to do an overnight stay at a Buddhist temple and I’m most definitely going to load up on Korean beauty and skincare products. There’s also a chance some areas will still have cherry blossoms. Karaoke and ungodly amounts of Korean BBQ … Continue reading Links: Anne Hathaway, Rat Music, & More →
I know many romance readers are also ritual re-readers, with books they re-read or seek out at different times of year. Some folks read The Hogfather every holiday season, for example. Other people re-read a specific book once a year, but the timing is more flexible, and might be whenever the mood strikes them. I think that’s so neat, both as a unique way to celebrate a book that is precious to a person, and that … Continue reading What Are Your Annual Re-Reads? →
Once again, I challenged our reviewers to pick their favorite (only one!) book they read this year. Here are our favorites of the year! We’d also love to hear about your best read of 2023! Since Sneezy is recommending webtoons, I’ll drop them here. … Continue reading Our Favorite Reads of 2023 →

TL;DR: The new Murderbot book, System Collapse, is very, very good and if you were a fan of the other books in the series you’ll likely enjoy this one just as much. A small piece of framework for this review to better understand the praise that is about to erupt: I have been having a lot of trouble reading text. This has been happening intermittently for a few months now, but has been much more … Continue reading System Collapse by Martha Wells →
