Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell by Taj McCoy is $2.99! This was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet. I thought we had a review of this one, but maybe I’m just remembering Shana talking about it in our Slack channels.

We are in the middle of a witchy pop culture wave (see: many, many recent witch-themed romance novels, for example). Toil and Trouble: A Women’s History of the Occult looks at the roles that women have played in America’s occult history. It’s a very complicated topic, and I admired the authors for being able to present an organized and inclusive, although not comprehensive, look at some of the many ways that women have been active … Continue reading Toil and Trouble by Lisa Kröger and Melanie R. The Siren by Katherine St. John is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, like all of today’s sales. I know there was some discussion about the KDDs page and for me, it’s showing a lot books that I’ve mentioned on Get Rec’d, but they aren’t at sale price. Bummer. This one is a mystery novel. Elyse loved St. John’s first book, but be warned that despite the fun colorful cover, these are pretty dark.

Two Steps Forward by Graeme Simsion and Anne Buist is $1.99! Sarah read this one and gave it a B- grade:
While I can see and enumerate the flaws I found in my own experience with this book, I also very much enjoyed it, and feel honored to have experienced the Camino with the characters, and the journey within the story itself.

Just Like That by Cole McCade is $1.99! I thought we’ve featured this on sale previously, but I have no concept of time anymore. This was a previous Hide Your Wallet pick and was Aarya’s selection. She was interested on this take of a taboo relationship. Have you read it?

The Binding by Bridget Collins is $2.99! This is a queer historical fantasy for book lovers (book binding plays a large part of the story). However, I’m uncertain if there’s any HEA involved with the romantic subplot. Definitely check the comments below or Goodreads reviews for that info!

RECOMMENDED: Monster She Wrote by Lisa Kröger and Melanie R. Anderson is $2.99! This is a price-matched Kindle Daily Deal. Carrie loved this one and gave it an A:
I can’t emphasize enough how well this collection hits the sweet spot of fun (Quotes! Illustrations! Anecdotes! Humor!) and informative. I will be using this book as a resource frequently.

RECOMMENDED: The Courtesan Duchess by Joanna Shupe is $1.99! This is a historical romance where the couple is married, but estranged. This series has been favorably mentioned and reviewed on the site and I believe the next book (this is the first one) is also on sale!

Never in my life have I made grabby hands as ferocious as the ones I made when I saw Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction. This book describes the life and work of women in speculative fiction starting with Margaret Cavendish and ending with Jewelle Gomez (and shorter mentions of many others). This is out just in time for you to make your Halloween reading list and since it mentions … Continue reading Monster She Wrote by Lisa Kröger and Melanie Anderson →
Everyone, there are so many good books coming out this month that it’s really quite unfair. We have over forty titles we’re excited for below, but here are a few others we know you’re all anxious to read: Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell is releasing! (My roommate splurged on a life-sized cardboard cutout of Baz, btw.) Margaret Atwood as written a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale called The Testaments. Rachel Caine continues her Great Library series with Sword and Pen . No … Continue reading September’s New Releases →
