Killers of a Certain Age
A | BN | K | AB
Deanna Raybourn is back, and we’re talking about some of the unusual methods used to kill folks in Killers of a Certain Age –and there are mild plot spoilers for that book, please be aware. We also talk about the images she receives from fans of her series, and the larger context of why there’s a sense of catharsis reading about terrible people meeting terrible ends.

TW/CW: I mention lice when talking about networks of women. And we’re talking about poison, murders, and some serial killers.

  1. Pamala says:

As always, a fabulous conversation and a pleasure to listen to one of my favorite authors talk murder, mysteries and poisons. Thanks to you Sarah and Deanna Raybourn for this enjoyable episode.

  2. Kareni says:

That was a fun episode! Thank you, Sarah and Deanna. I read Killers of a Certain Age and definitely enjoyed it.

  3. Mona says:

I read Deanna Rayborns novels mainly because of the previous SBTB podcasts about them. I ended up disappointed by how Roma and LGBTQ issues were handled in them – even in a historical context as well as the use colonies as exotic backdrop and I stopped reading them but YMMV.

I read the mysteries and expected them to follow romance genre rules.

    ≤spoiler>
SPOILER I still cannot get over the uneccessary and tragic death of a side character. Why did the lesbian couple not get at least a happy ever after especially after a multi book buildup for a reunion? It was really weird because one of them married to have a kid and her death read to me as a punishment because she “sold out” or was too bisexual? It just left me with a bad taste to this day.
