Once Upon a Marquess by Courtney Milan

Once Upon a Marquess

Redheadedgirl and I adore Courtney Milan with an unprofessional amount of squee. We are so excited about her new series, which kicked off with Once Upon a Marquess. Once Upon a Marquess is a romance between Judith and Christian. Judith was once a Lady, but when her father and brother were convicted of treason, she was reduced to supporting her remaining siblings in genteel poverty (‘genteel’ in the sense that Judith swears by bird species … Continue reading Once Upon a Marquess by Courtney Milan

Books on Sale: The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan & More

RECOMMENDED: The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan is .99 right now. This is a much-loved historical – both Carrie S and RedHeadedGirl gave it an A. Carrie wrote about how much she loved the disparate styles of the hero and heroine who used different means to achieve the same goal of hiding in plain sight: “Oliver survives by blending, but Jane survives by clashing with her surroundings as much as possible without openly breaching decorum.”

And RedHeadedGirl wrote in her review, “COURTNEY MILAN HOW DO YOU BRAIN.

There was NOT A GOOD GODDAMN THING I DID NOT LIKE ABOUT THIS BOOK.  Nothing.”

So, yeah, they recommend it.

125. An Interview with RedHeadedGirl and Courtney Milan

This week, RedHeadedGirl and Sarah sit down with Courtney Milan to talk about her brand-new New Adult Contemporary Trade Me, which was released this past Tuesday. We discuss reader reactions, the development of the characters and Milan’s take on the billionaire trope. Plus, Courtney’s dog also makes a guest appearance. If you’re worried about spoilers, this is pretty spoiler-free. We talk about characters and their backstories, but don’t give away too much of the plot, … Continue reading 125. Trade Me by Courtney Milan

Trade Me

Courtney Milan is well-known (and, on this site, much adored) for her Victorian romances.  Trade Me is Milan’s first contemporary and once the Bitches finished knocking each other over on the way to an ARC, we commenced to raving about the book on email and now we are raving publicly because this book is pretty darn sublime. The basic sum up of the plot is this – Blake and Tina are two college students.  Blake … Continue reading Trade Me by Courtney Milan

Talk Sweetly to Me by Courtney Milan

Talk Sweetly to Me

Of course I loved Talk Sweetly To Me by Courtney Milan.  I love everything by Courtney Milan.  Having me review her books is almost farcical at this point because it’s a forgone conclusion that I’m going to love her books.  However, I do love some of her books more than others – sometimes for personal reasons and sometimes for technical ones.  Talk Sweetly was personal catnip but it had a couple of technical flaws. Talk Sweetly … Continue reading Talk Sweetly to Me by Courtney Milan

RITA Reader Challenge: The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan

RITA Reader Challenge: The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan

This RITA® Reader Challenge 2014 review was written by Patricia M. This story was nominated for the RITA® in the Historical Romance category. The summary: Sebastian Malheur is the most dangerous sort of rake: an educated one. When he’s not scandalizing ladies in the bedchamber, he’s outraging proper society with his scientific theories. He’s desired, reviled, acclaimed, and despised—and he laughs through it all. Violet Waterfield, the widowed Countess of Cambury, on the other hand, … Continue reading RITA Reader Challenge: The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan

Review: The Suffragette Scandal by Courtney Milan

Review: The Suffragette Scandal by Courtney Milan

Redheadedgirl and I wanted to write a joint review of The Suffragette Scandal, but it turned out to be really difficult because we kept jumping up and down and screaming.  We LOVED this book.  If we could get away with it, we would submit this entire review in CAPSLOCK because the book was MADE OF WIN. The Suffragette Scandal is about Free, a suffragette, and Edward, a scoundrel.  Edward’s brother is trying to destroy Free.  … Continue reading Review: The Suffragette Scandal by Courtney Milan
