The Minuscule Mansion of Myra Malone
The Minuscule Mansion of Myra Malone by Audrey Burges is $1.99! I believe this was my pick on a previous Hide Your Wallet and I was really intrigued by the concept. However, I never got around to reading it; ain’t that just the way.
A woman learns to expand the boundaries of her small world and let love inside it in this sparkling and unforgettable novel by Audrey Burges.
From her attic in the Arizona mountains, thirty-four-year-old Myra Malone blogs about a dollhouse mansion that captivates thousands of readers worldwide. Myra’s stories have created legions of fans who breathlessly await every blog post, trade photographs of Mansion-modeled rooms, and swap theories about the enigmatic and reclusive author. Myra herself is tethered to the Mansion by mysteries she can’t understand—rooms that appear and disappear overnight, music that plays in its corridors.
Across the country, Alex Rakes, the scion of a custom furniture business, encounters two Mansion fans trying to recreate a room. The pair show him the Minuscule Mansion, and Alex is shocked to recognize a reflection of his own life mirrored back to him in minute scale. The room is his own bedroom, and the Mansion is his family’s home, handed down from the grandmother who disappeared mysteriously when Alex was a child. Searching for answers, Alex begins corresponding with Myra. Together, the two unwind the lonely paths of their twin worlds—big and small—and trace the stories that entwine them, setting the stage for a meeting rooted in loss, but defined by love.

Read Between the Lines
Read Between the Lines by Rachel Lacey is $2.49! This is a contemporary f/f romance that has been mentioned on both Book Beat and Hide You Wallet. This is the first book in the Ms. Right series and the second is also on sale.
From award-winning author Rachel Lacey comes a playful romance about a Manhattan bookstore owner and a reclusive author who love to hate—and hate to love—each other.
Books are Rosie Taft’s life. And ever since she took over her mother’s beloved Manhattan bookstore, they’ve become her home too. The only thing missing is her own real-life romance like the ones she loves to read about, and Rosie has an idea of who she might like to sweep her off her feet. She’s struck up a flirty online friendship with lesbian romance author Brie, and what could be more romantic than falling in love with her favorite author?
Jane Breslin works hard to keep her professional and personal lives neatly separated. By day, she works for the family property development business. By night, she puts her steamier side on paper under her pen name: Brie. Jane hasn’t had much luck with her own love life, but her online connection with a loyal reader makes Jane wonder if she could be the one.
When Rosie learns that her bookstore’s lease has been terminated by Jane’s company, romance moves to the back burner. Even though they’re at odds, there’s no denying the sparks that fly every time they’re together. When their online identities are revealed, will Jane be able to write her way to a happy ending, or is Rosie’s heart a closed book?

Shadow and Ice
Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter is $1.99! This is the first book in the fantasy romance series, Gods of War. I’m curious about this new series, but Showalter’s books have been misses for me, mainly because of the heroes. Are you a Showalter fan?
Knox of Iviland, the most ruthless warrior in All War history, has spent his life fighting others to the death, winning new realms for his king. Now the stakes are higher than ever. If he prevails in the battle for Earth, his slave bands will be removed. Victory is his sole focus…until he meets her.
On an arctic getaway with her foster sister, street tough but vulnerable Vale London is shocked to stumble upon a cave filled with ancient gods waging epic combat. When she is inadvertently drawn into their war, she is forced to team up with an unlikely ally—the sexy god who makes her burn with desire.
Though Vale is his enemy, Knox is consumed with lust and a fierce need to protect her. But only one combatant can triumph, and he will have to choose: live for freedom, or die for love.

The Dachshund Wears Prada
The Dachshund Wears Prada by Stefanie London is $2.99! This is book one in the Paws in the City series. I didn’t mind this one! Way more emotional than I expected. The cover did give me pause (heh) as the design gave me more 2007 chick lit vibes.
How do you start over when the biggest mistake of your life has more than one million views?
Forget diamonds—the internet is forever. Social media consultant Isla Thompson learned that lesson the hard way when she went viral for all the wrong reasons. A month later, Isla is still having nightmares about the moment she ruined a young starlet’s career and made herself the most unemployable influencer in Manhattan. But she doesn’t have the luxury of hiding until she’s no longer Instagram poison. Not when her fourteen-year-old sister, Dani, needs Isla to keep a roof over their heads. So, she takes the first job she can get: caring for Camilla, a glossy-maned, foul-tempered hellhound.
After a week of ferrying Camilla from playdates to pet psychics, Isla starts to suspect that the dachshund’s bark is worse than her bite—just like her owner, Theo Garrison. Isla has spent her career working to make people likable and here’s Theo—happy to hide behind his reputation as a brutish recluse. But Theo isn’t a brute—he’s sweet and funny, and Isla should not see him as anything but the man who signs her paychecks. Because loving Theo would mean retreating to his world of secluded luxury, and Isla needs to show Dani that no matter the risk, dreams are always worth chasing.

Interested to know opinions on the Miniscule Mansion – I liked the sample and the concept but didn’t get around to buying (or requesting) and reading it.
@Rhiannon Kaye: I bought the book last year and still haven’t read it. As Amanda said above, ain’t that just the way. My TBR moves randomly like the staircase at Hogwarts; I have no idea what’s going to show up next.
I love the Long Con Adventures by Amy Lane – thanks for the heads-up @flchen1! I have most but not all of the books so now my collection is more complete 😉
@drewbird, you’re so welcome! I think I saw the original recommendation on the Rec League post about heists/cons, and am always glad to share a good deal!
From my GR review of Minuscule Mansion: Even if you’re a fan of magical realism you will have to suspend disbelief a few times (including the fact that a mental disorder can be cured by true love). Burges is a talented storyteller with a distinctive voice who offers a compelling plot, but her characters feel more like symbols than living, breathing people.
I genuinely loved Miniscule Mansion: It was creative, a good time.
Daschund was a Just OK read, and I liked Read Between the Lines.
@flchen1 Thanks for the heads up about Amy Aislin. I think I *have* most of her backlist – definitely all her hockey romances, which are among my favorite hockey ones, and a few others as well – but I will definitely check for any I’m missing. For anyone who likes m/m and especially hockey romance, she’s one I recommend and you can’t beat that price!
@Darlynne , @Lisa F , and @SusanS thanks for sharing the opinions, greatly appreciated 🙂 decided to get it (and saw she has another one coming out this year).
