Help A Bitch Out

HaBO: She Finds Out He’s an Escort

This HaBO is from Nakiya, who is looking for this romance:

I believe the book started off with the heroine being in a coffee shop. She see’s the hero and he’s looking at her too. She doesn’t anything. I don’t remember if he puts a card in a bowl (like a jar or bulletin board where people put their business cards). And I don’t remember if they interacted or not, but and the end of it she got his business card. I can’t remember how they ended up interacting again but they do. She lives with her grandmother I believe and she has a gay best-friend.

The hero somehow ends up at her house and her grandmother takes a liking to him. And this becomes a thing (where he is over the house often). Then she’s out with the hero I think on a date (it’s a posh event) and ladies are whispering. She basically overhears them talking about the hero and how he’s good in bed, but they’re talking from experience. So then somehow from their conversation she concludes that he’s an escort. She’s really upset by this and leaves the event. The hero then comes by the house a lot to get her to talk to him and she won’t. So then she books an appointment with him (via the card) and he’s shocked to see her (they’re at this swanky hotel).

He tells her that he isn’t doing this and she’s like why I’m just like any other costumer. The conversation goes on and the hero gets frustrated so he’s like ‘All right you wanna do this? let’s do it but there are rules. You can’t touch me at all and we can’t kiss.’ She agrees, but during it she try’s to break the rules and he’s like if you do it ends now. While they’re having relations she’s thinking that she doesn’t like this. She still reaches cloud nine, but it’s not satisfying because of lack of intimacy. So after he gets up to clean himself, she gets dressed and dips. He catches up to her and by the time he reaches her, she’s already in the elevator. He begs her to get off of the elevator so that they can talk (he’s claustrophobic and doesn’t like elevators). But she doesn’t listen so he runs down the steps and tries to catch up to her. She gets off the elevator and as she’s headed to the exit, sees him (still in his underwear). He yells her name to get her to stop, but she walks faster.

I’m not sure if this was before or after the hotel scene, but she and her best friend are drunk in her room. They are talking about memories and feelings. Then one thing leads to another and they’re kissing. They’re getting hot and heavy. I believe she basically stops kissing him and she’s like I’m sorry or something. So I don’t think they knew (in the biblical sense) each other that night.

Oh and for more context the heroine’s mother was an escort so she doesn’t have a positive view of sex work.

Ringing any bells?

    That’s some crazy.

  2. Sue says:

To echo denise’s comment above me, it DOES sound crazy and now I want to read this. Please HABBO (Help A Bunch of Bitches Out)!

  3. Megan says:

This sounds a bit like “At Your Beck and Call” by Jane Harvey-Berrick.

I’m not sure, though, because it has been around nine years ago that I read it.

Sorry if it’s the wrong book. 🙂

  4. Gail Leitl says:

This sounds alot like the “One Night” trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas – one of my favorite books and Author.

  5. Megan says:

    There’s also this one:

    “Fauxmance” by L.S. Cosway

I feel as if I’ve read something similar, but in different parts of different books. Sybil Bartel had three-book romantic-suspense series called Alpha Escorts (THRUST, ROUGH, GRIND), where the heroes were part-time escorts and part-time security service personnel. Unfortunately, the blurbs on Amazon are of no help, but check the samples and see if they ring any bells.

I too would love to know the title to this one. However, I don’t think it’s Fauxmance. I can’t really picture Cosway’s hero being so discombobulated that he’d run out into the public area of a hotel in his tighty whities.

  8. Gail says:

Why I think it is the One Night Series by Jodi Ellen Malpas – Olivia works in a coffee shop and meets Miller there. She lives with her grandmother (who makes a pineapple upside down cake for Miller). Miller is an escort. Miller also owns a Night Club. Miller has a phobia with Elevators and will not get in one (always takes the stairs). Olivia’s mother was an escort. Was a really good angsty series that I love to reread.

  9. Louise says:

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that the more crazysauce the description, the more titles will be found to fit it.

I am, however, saddened by this detail:
the heroine’s mother was an escort so she doesn’t have a positive view of sex work
It’s a shame Heroine didn’t instead grow up with a sense of, “Well, it’s a living”, the way she would if her mother had been a hotel maid or fast-food worker.

  10. Denise says:

I just reread Fauxmance over the weekend, so it is not that, but I highly recommend it!

  11. Toni says:

The series is called Forbidden Desires by Kendall Ryan. The heroine is a librarian named Emma Bell who fantasizes about the hot guy she always sees in line at a coffee shop. He puts his business card in the bowl and the shop people throw it out and give it to her.
