This holiday, Cecily vows to remain calm—as long as she doesn’t see him.

Jeffrey Lee deeply regrets how he ended things with Cecily ten years ago, but he felt it was best for her at the time. When he runs into her again during the New Year, he sees it as a sign. Now a successful screenwriter, Jeffrey is determined to win back Cecily’s heart.

But Cecily doesn’t believe in signs or second chances and embraces her new resolutions. This time, Jeffrey won’t give up—and he’s convinced he can write them a new Hollywood happy ending.

  • You or Someone You Love

You or Someone You Love by Hannah Matthews

    Author: Hannah Matthews
Released: May 2, 2023 by Atria Books
    Genre:

An eye-opening, transformative, and actionable journey through radical and compassionate community abortion care and support what it looks like, how each and every one of us can practice and incorporate it into our daily lives, and what we can imagine and build together in a post-Roe v. Wade United States.

Abortion touches all of our lives. One in four women in the United States has at least one abortion by the age of forty-five, which means that virtually everyone knows someone who will, or who already has. But despite the universality of abortion experiences, stigma and criminalization stifle discussions of how best to care for and support these women—and all of the other members of our communities who have abortions—before, during, and after them.

Now, Hannah Matthews—abortion care worker, doula, journalist and essayist, and reproductive rights advocate—presents an accessible guide to the emotional and physical realities of providing and supporting abortion care to our own communities. Featuring stories of real abortion experiences, including Matthews’s own, You or Someone You Love offers a glimpse into the stunningly diverse landscape of abortion care across gender, race, and class lines, while illustrating how we can better support and protect the people who seek abortion in a country that increasingly promotes secrecy and shame.

This memoir is out in May and is definitely something of interest to the Bitchery.

StoryGraph recently pointed me at Add Magic to Taste, an anthology of “new, original short stories uniting four of our absolute favorite themes: queer relationships, fluff, magic, and coffee shops! Our diverse writers have created an even more diverse collection of stories guaranteed to sweeten your coffee and warm your tart.” I haven’t read it yet, but I think the rec was riffing off of Legends & Lattes.

It seems like cozy tea/coffee shop fantasy may be having a moment, which yay.
