The League of Gentlewomen Witches
The League of Gentlewoman Witches by India Holton is $1.99! This is book two in the Dangerous Damsels series, which I found to give me the same vibes as Shelly Laurenston. It’s just over the top, goofy fun!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the teahouse…
Miss Charlotte Pettifer belongs to a secret league of women skilled in the subtle arts. That is to say—although it must never be said—witchcraft. The League of Gentlewomen Witches strives to improve the world in small ways. Using magic, they tidy, correct, and manipulate according to their notions of what is proper, entirely unlike those reprobates in the Wisteria Society.
When the long lost amulet of Black Beryl is discovered, it is up to Charlotte, as the future leader of the League, to make sure the powerful talisman does not fall into the wrong hands. Therefore, it is most unfortunate when she crosses paths with Alex O’Riley, a pirate who is no Mr. Darcy. With all the world scrambling after the amulet, Alex and Charlotte join forces to steal it together. If only they could keep their pickpocketing hands to themselves! If Alex’s not careful, he might just steal something else—such as Charlotte’s heart.

Reel
Reel by Kennedy Ryan is $2.49! It’s also a Kindle Daily Deal. This was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet. I love this cover and the color palette they chose! This is a romance set in Hollywood, if that happens to be your catnip.
Award-Winning Wall Street Journal Bestselling author Kennedy Ryan launches a brand new series with a Hollywood tale of wild ambition, artistic obsession, and unrelenting love.
One moment in the spotlight.
For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings,
preparing for my time to shine.
I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night.
Canon Holt.
Famous film director.
Fascinating. Talented. Fine.
Before I could catch my breath, everything changed.
I went from backstage Broadway to center stage Hollywood.
From being unknown, to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone’s lips.
Canon casts me in a star-studded Harlem Renaissance biopic,
catapulting me into another stratosphere. But stars shine brightest in the dead of night.
Forbidden attraction, scandal and circumstances beyond my control jeopardize my dream.
Could this one shot—the role of a lifetime, the love of a lifetime—cost me everything?Add to Goodreads To-Read List →

The Guncle
The Guncle by Steven Rowley is $1.99! I mentioned this book on a previous Get Rec’d. It’s a bittersweet read about Patrick, the fun, gay uncle (guncle) who becomes the temporary caretaker for his niece and nephew.
Patrick, or Gay Uncle Patrick (GUP, for short), has always loved his niece, Maisie, and nephew, Grant. That is, he loves spending time with them when they come out to Palm Springs for weeklong visits, or when he heads home to Connecticut for the holidays. But in terms of caretaking and relating to two children, no matter how adorable, Patrick is honestly a bit out of his league.
So when tragedy strikes and Maisie and Grant lose their mother and Patrick’s brother has a health crisis of his own, Patrick finds himself suddenly taking on the role of primary guardian. Despite having a set of “Guncle Rules” ready to go, Patrick has no idea what to expect, having spent years barely holding on after the loss of his great love, a somewhat-stalled career, and a lifestyle not-so-suited to a six- and a nine-year-old. Quickly realizing that parenting—even if temporary—isn’t solved with treats and jokes, Patrick’s eyes are opened to a new sense of responsibility, and the realization that, sometimes, even being larger than life means you’re unfailingly human.

The Swedish Prince
The Swedish Prince by Karina Halle is $2.49 at Amazon and a Kindle Daily Deal! This is a contemporary romance with Roman Holiday influences, class differences, and a royal hero. I could be wrong, as I’ve only read a couple of Halle’s romances, but I think her writing is either a love it or hate it kind of thing. Try the sample before one-clicking!
A swoon-worthy, sexy & utterly charming STANDALONE romance inspired by the classic film Roman Holiday, from the New York Times bestselling author of Bad at Love and The Pact
I never believed in fairy-tales.
Never held out for Prince Charming.
Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off into the sunset with anyone. That was even more apparent when a senseless tragedy took the lives of my parents, forcing me to become the sole guardian of our dysfunctional household at the mere age of twenty-three.
Then a fateful encounter literally brought Prince Charming to my doorstep.
At first I thought Viktor was just your average businessman passing through, albeit obscenely handsome, six-foot-five, blue-eyed, and mysteriously rich.
But soon I discovered the truth behind Viktor’s façade.
Beneath his quiet, enigmatic gaze and cocky charm, is a man who is running away from who he really is. A role he’d rather not fulfill.
He is Viktor of House Nordin, His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince of Sweden.
Yet uncovering Viktor’s secret was only the first step.
I didn’t expect to fall in love with him.
I didn’t expect to have my whole life turned upside down.
When you’re from two different worlds, can your hearts meet somewhere in the middle?
Or do happily-ever-afters only exist in fairy-tales?
WARNING: The Swedish Prince is oh-so sweet, enchanting and funny, but it does contain foul language (lots of the F word) and graphic sexual scenes (lots of dirty talk). Reader discretion is advised for those who are sensitive.

I tried Reel and I just couldn’t get into it. I don’t know if something is just wrong with me or what. But for $2.49 I’m willing to try again.
Glad to see The Guncle is on sale, I’ve been wanting to read this one.
The League of Gentlewomen Witches shows up as $9.99 at all the provided links.
I feel like the cover of The Swedish Prince should be on Cover Snark. What is that face going for?
@Ksquared
That is what a cramp in your underdeveloped single-eyebrow-lifting muscle looks like.
For anyone who enjoys horror (or the slasher subgenre),
Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare is $1.99 on Amazon right now. I just read it – the title pretty much says it all. It was very fun and definitely gory/scary at points.
I want to vouch for REEL–one of my favourite books last year. Maybe my top of 2021. I think it deserves all the awards it won. It has strong characters, is complicated and emotional, and I loved the glimpses into the present and past film worlds.
I love love love Kennedy Ryan. Reel wasn’t my favorite of hers, but it was still really great.
Out of all of these, The Guncle is my fave, but Reel and Gentlewomen Witches are also worth a peek.
The League of Gentlewomen Witches shows up as 13.68 on Amazon, for me. Sadly.
Somebody better just hide MY wallet today!!!!
I’ll recommend Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder which is $1.99 for US Kindle readers today. I’ve reread this several times.
Also The Billionaire’s Wake-Up-Call Girl by Annika Martin is free for US Kindle readers today.
The Billionaire’s Wake-Up-Call Girl was so enjoyable. Sweet, funny and a little bit serious. It made me smile just to see the title in Kareni’s comment this afternoon.
