I Owe You One
I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella is $2.99! I feel like Kinsella’s books are hit or miss, or you’re either a fan or you’re not. The description describes a pretty adorable meet cute. Have you read this one? Are you a Kinsella fan?
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sophie Kinsella, an irresistible story of love and empowerment about a young woman with a complicated family, a handsome man who might be âthe one,â and an IOU that changes everything
Fixie Farr has always lived by her fatherâs motto: âFamily first.â But since her dad passed away, leaving his charming housewares store in the hands of his wife and children, Fixie spends all her time picking up the slack from her siblings instead of striking out on her own. The way Fixie sees it, if she doesnât take care of her fatherâs legacy, who will? Itâs simply not in her nature to say no to people.
So when a handsome stranger in a coffee shop asks her to watch his laptop for a moment, Fixie not only agreesâshe ends up saving it from certain disaster. Turns out the computerâs owner is an investment manager. To thank Fixie for her quick thinking, Sebastian scribbles an IOU on a coffee sleeve and attaches his business card. But Fixie laughs it offâsheâd never actually claim an IOU from a stranger. Would she?
Then Fixieâs childhood crush, Ryan, comes back into her life and his lack of a profession pushes all of Fixieâs buttons. She wants nothing for herselfâbut sheâd love Seb to give Ryan a job. And Seb agrees, until the tables are turned once more and a new series of IOUs between Seb and Fixieâfrom small favors to life-changing momentsâensues. Soon Fixie, Ms. Fixit for everyone else, is torn between her family and the life she really wants. Does she have the courage to take a stand? Will she finally grab the life, and love, she really wants?

Fortune’s Pawn
Fortuneâs Pawn by Rachel Bach is $2.99! This is a scifi novel with some strong romantic elements and, in the past, Iâve heard it described as Kate Daniels in space. Many people loved this book and its worldbuilding, though there are a few reviewers who said they never connected with any of the characters.
Devi Morris isn’t your average mercenary. She has plans. Big ones. And a ton of ambition. It’s a combination that’s going to get her killed one day – but not just yet.
That is, until she just gets a job on a tiny trade ship with a nasty reputation for surprises. The Glorious Fool isn’t misnamed: it likes to get into trouble, so much so that one year of security work under its captain is equal to five years everywhere else. With odds like that, Devi knows she’s found the perfect way to get the jump on the next part of her Plan. But the Fool doesn’t give up its secrets without a fight, and one year on this ship might be more than even Devi can handle.
If Sigouney Weaver in Alien met Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica, you’d get Deviana Morris — a hot new mercenary earning her stripes to join an elite fighting force. Until one alien bite throws her whole future into jeopardy.

The Star King
The Star King by Susan Grant is $3.99! The next books are also available at that price. This is a scifi romance with a fighter pilot heroine, an alien hero, and a bit of a second chance romance. Some readers felt the plot was a little rushed, while others loved the world Grant created.
Shot down over Saudi Arabia, fighter pilot Jasmine Hamilton encounters a golden-eyed stranger from another worldâone thatâs light years away. Long after sheâs rescued, dreams of the mysterious man haunt her and nearly derail her life. When Earth is contacted by a seemingly benevolent alien civilization, Jas takes off on the journey of a lifetime, and the star-crossed lovers reunite, joining forces against a ruthless enemy determined to destroy both their worlds.

Rose Levy Beranbaum is an autobuy author for me. She’s chatty, informative and skilled. The books are not just good resource material; they’re good curl up with and read material.
I thought I’d give Star King a try but then I realised I’ve read it. Different cover. Was good though, think MC’s are in their late thirties early forties.
I owe you one: ugh love triangles, will be avoiding that one!
I enjoyed Fortuneâs Pawn and the two follow on books a couple of years ago. I’ve never felt compelled to reread them though (rereading a book means I really liked it).
As regards the Kinsella book, Fixie is certainly a unique name!
Big fan of Rachel Bach/Rachel Aaron here! I actually prefer her scifi trilogy to the Detroit Free Zone stories. I think I mentionned it before, but the romance arc for Rupert (the love interest) really was satisfying for me. I also love the heroine’s outlook, alien armor-mad glory an’ all đ
I bought The Baking Bible, because people are raving about it! I much prefer physical cookbooks, but for that price? I always forget I actually have a Kindle Fire that shows color pictures-I’m so used to my Paperwhite.
One-clicked The Baking Bible with five minutes to spare before midnight hit! I needed this one.
@Lisa F, I just one clicked as well! I need to take a break and make some delicious things.
