You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!
This HaBO request comes from Christina, who is hoping to find this historical romance. CW/TW for the description below:
I am in the hunt for the title of a historical I read a few years ago. It’s either Regency or Victorian.
It starts out with the heroine on the day after she gets married. The hero finds her washed up on the shore of a river the day after her wedding night, where her new husband tried to kill her and dispose of her body by throwing her overboard of their river barge. I can’t remember if she has no memory of the previous night, or if she just doesn’t want to tell the hero for fear he’ll return her to the husband.
The hero tries to get her back home or to town, while trying to get her to remember things. I think there’s a class struggle in there.
The husband tries to kill the heroine because she’s lower class and was forced to marry for money.
Anyone else hope the husband gets what’s coming to him?
How to Lose A Bride in One Night by Sophie Jordan
1000% what Teev says! it was Sophie Jordan’s “How To Lose A Bride In One Night”! He was such a prick!(the husband!)
I was jumping on to say How to Lose a Bride. SUCH a good book.
I knew I knew this one! My notes say good premise but stupid main characters.
