  • Tikka Chance on Me

Tikka Chance on Me by Suleikha Snyder

RECOMMENDEDTikka Chance on Me by Suleikha Snyder is 99c! Elyse recently reviewed this novella as a Lightning Review and gave it an A:

Despite its short length, the pacing, conflict and tropey-ness of Tikka Chance on Me fall into place perfectly, making it immensely satisfying.

He’s the bad-boy biker. She’s the good girl working in her family’s Indian restaurant. On the surface, nothing about Trucker Carrigan and Pinky Grover’s instant, incendiary, attraction makes sense. But when they peel away the layers and the assumptions—and their clothes—everything falls into place. The need. The want. The light. The laughter. They have more in common than they ever could’ve guessed. Is it enough? They won’t know until they take a chance on each other—and on love.

  • A Most Unlikely Duke

A Most Unlikely Duke by Sophie Barnes

A Most Unlikely Duke by Sophie Barnes is $1.99! This is the first book in the Diamonds in the Rough historical romance series, and I actually really like the cover. Carrie read this one and gave it a B:

I loved this book for its lovely use of language, its focus on the problems of both the lower and upper classes, the incredibly likeable characters, and the affirming, sexy, sweet romance.

He never thought he’d become a duke, or that the secrets of his past would cost him his greatest love…

Raphe Matthews hasn’t stepped foot in polite circles since a tragedy left his once-noble family impoverished and in debt. The bare-knuckle boxer has spent the last fifteen years eking out an existence for himself and his two sisters. But when a stunning reversal of fortune lands Raphe the title of Duke of Huntley, he’s determined to make a go of becoming a proper lord, but he’ll need a little help, and his captivating neighbor might be just the woman for the job…

After her sister’s scandalous match, Lady Gabriella knows the ton’s eyes are on her. Agreeing to tutor the brutish new duke can only lead to ruin. Although she tries to control her irresistible attraction to Raphe, every day she spends with him only deepens her realization that this may be the one man she cannot do without. And as scandal threatens to envelop them both, she must decide if she can risk everything for love with a most unlikely duke.

  • Meet Cute

    Meet Cute by

Meet Cute is $2.99! This is an YA romance anthology by a big list of authors and I’ve been dying to read this one. This book also has LGBT rep and diversity in writers and characters. With most anthologies though, readers say it’s a mixed bags with some huge hits and obvious misses. This part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals and is being price-matched.

Whether or not you believe in fate, or luck, or love at first sight, every romance has to start somewhere. MEET CUTE is an anthology of original short stories featuring tales of “how they first met” from some of today’s most popular YA authors.

Readers will experience Nina LaCour’s beautifully written piece about two Bay Area girls meeting via a cranky customer service Tweet, Sara Shepard’s glossy tale about a magazine intern and a young rock star, Nicola Yoon’s imaginative take on break-ups and make-ups, Katie Cotugno’s story of two teens hiding out from the police at a house party, and Huntley Fitzpatrick’s charming love story that begins over iced teas at a diner. There’s futuristic flirting from Kass Morgan and Katharine McGee, a riveting transgender heroine from Meredith Russo, a subway missed connection moment from Jocelyn Davies, and a girl determined to get out of her small town from Ibi Zoboi. Jennifer Armentrout writes a sweet story about finding love from a missing library book, Emery Lord has a heartwarming and funny tale of two girls stuck in an airport, Dhonielle Clayton takes a thoughtful, speculate approach to pre-destined love, and Julie Murphy dreams up a fun twist on reality dating show contestants.

This incredibly talented group of authors brings us a collection of stories that are at turns romantic and witty, epic and everyday, heartbreaking and real.

  • Dead Witch Walking

Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison is $2.99! This is book one in The Hollows series, which is urban fantasy with a fierce heroine and a lot of opportunities for asskicking. It has a 4+-star average on GoodReads, and is frequently mentioned when readers talk about which urban fantasy series to try next. However, if memory serves me right, I couldn’t get into it myself.

All the creatures of the night gather in “the Hollows” of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party . . . and to feed.

Vampires rule the darkness in a predator-eat-predator world rife with dangers beyond imagining—and it’s Rachel Morgan’s job to keep that world civilized.

A bounty hunter and witch with serious sex appeal and an attitude, she’ll bring ’em back alive, dead . . . or undead.

  1. Another Anne says:

There is a 2 for one sale at Audible on select books. My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante, Last Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton, The Broken Girls by Simone St. James and The Widows of Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey are among the selections. There are probably more, but I’m short on credits.

There are a couple of books from the Lisa Kleypas Hathaway series on sale at amazon.

Happy New Year and happy reading/listening!

  2. Susan says:

@Another Anne: You can buy more credits (but that may just be with certain membership plans?). 🙂

  3. Mel says:

The cover of A Most Unlikely Duke looks like she is adjusting her cardboard cutout just so. Probably involving some sort of hijinks to make the Unlikely Duke jealous.

  4. Melissa says:

The Deal by Elle Kennedy is free on Amazon today (Jan. 2).
