You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!
This HaBO is from Claire and she’s looking for a contemporary romance:
Help a Librarian Out! I’m totally chagrined that I couldn’t find this one independently, but thank goodness I’m an avid SBTB reader and knew you’d all be here to help.
Here are the clues:
It’s a contemporary. Maybe romantic suspense?
Setting: a small Hudson Bay New York town. Part of a series, all taking place in the same town.
The heroine is a wedding dress designer. Her architect husband hits his head at a cocktail party and dies (!) so I assume he isn’t the hero? Her sister works in publishing.
The author might be Kirsten or Kristin or something similar.
Our GoogleFu failed us on trying to find this one as well.
Oooh, ooh, I know this one! I am pretty sure it is On Second Thought by Kristan Higgins. It was a good read, by one of my favorite authors.
Agreed. I think this is On Second Thought by Kristan Higgins. The Heroine’s husband hits his head at a cocktail party and dies early in the book. Her sister works at a magazine. The Heroine’s a photographer, but the heroine of the fist book in the series, If Only You Knew, was a wedding dress designer. They both take place in the town of Cambry-on-Hudson.
Lol. I was wondering if some of the HABO details had been confused with Higgins’ If You Only Knew, but I hadn’t read the second in the series. Yay, Kelly and Marika!
Definitely On Second Thought by Kristan Higgins.
DAMMIT I FINALLY KNEW ONE!
Go, Bitchery!!!
I guess I’ll speak up and be the first to.point out that the fictional town of Cambry is on the Hudson River, not Hudson Bay. A shame, really, since that location caught my attention, and I was pondering whether there were any unusual requirements for being a subarctic wedding dress designer.
@Vasha, I had the Hudson Bay blankets pop into my mind, along with the climate and visualized a really interesting dress.
I was also wondering how the Dress Designer worked the bands of bright colour from a Hudson’s Bay Blanket into the design of a wedding dress…wonder if it was white wool? Sounds a bit like one of the silly competitions on The Bachelorette??
