Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Brothers Thought They Were Twins

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO request is from Sharon, who is trying to track down a series:

I recently (within the past year or so) read several books in a series. The next two were to be be about two brothers, the other books were about other siblings, mostly or all brothers. They had been raised as fraternal twins, but it was revealed that one was actually the son of the father’s girlfriend and his wife raised them as twins. After this was revealed, the boys or at least the half-brother left town and moved to a town that had a holiday theme, possibly Christmas.

The author may have another series based in this town. Other details I may be conflating from another series: some of the brothers work as car mechanics, father was in a biker gang. I think when I read the books the “ex-twins” books had not been published, or I couldn’t find them on any subscription sites.

Hope this rings a bell with someone.

There is a lot going on here! Anyone recognize this?

  1. Mari says:

Winston Brothers series by Penny Reid!

  2. m says:

The series is by Susan Mallery and it is her latest series Happily, Inc. It is about a wedding town and the next book is about the son by the mistress, the one about the legitimate son has already come out

  3. Vicki says:

Sounds like Susan Mallery’s series. That storyline plays out between the end of the Fool’s Gold stories and the start of the Happily, Inc stories. The brothers leave some of the family behind when they settle down in Happily.

  4. Gillian says:

I agree with Mari, it totally sounds like Penny Reid’s Winston series.

  5. Amy Kate says:

It’s not the Winston series. The twins in those books are identical, so much so that there is a brother posing as his twin scenario.

  6. Kara says:

I don’t think it’s either of those. But I know I read at least one of the books in this series. It’s driving me crazy, because I think I should know it.

  7. Sharon says:

Wow! Thanks. I had thought Winston Brothers at first too, but I started rereading and realized not. I just checked Susan Mallery’s website and it is the Happily, Inc. I have been trying to figure this out for months. Thank you all!

  8. Mary C says:

    Susan Mallery’s Happiy Inc series

  9. Allison says:

I finally know one of these, and I log in too late to be helpful!

  10. Karen H near Tampa says:

I hardly ever (closer to never) know the HABO books and this one I did. I just read it a week or so ago because Susan Mallery sent Second Chance Girl (the specific book mentioned) to me as a surprise gift. I have to admit that while I enjoyed the book mostly, I thought the hero was taking the “he’s not really my twin” issue way too hard and really needed to get over himself. But I will be looking for the other brothers’ books at the library soon.

  11. Nikki H says:

I agree that Susan Mallery is the author of the books. I think it starts with the reveal at the end of a Fools Gold book and then is continued in the Happily Inc series.

  12. Louise says:

one was actually the son of the father’s girlfriend and his wife raised them as twins
Now that the HABO itself has been identified, I really, really want to read the book that describes this episode from the wife’s point of view.
