Last Call for PassionFlix’s Founding Member Discount

Passionflix logoIn just a few days, PassionFlix will officially go live!

Once they do, their Founding Member pre-subscription will go poof. If you’re still waffling on whether or not to subscribe early, I was able to get a sneak peek at the Beta version of the site, and have some details to share with you.

Passionflix will also have an app for viewing on iOS and Android technology, so you can use a phone or tablet to access their collection.

Their first piece of original content, Hollywood Dirt, will premiere on September 20th. You can check out the trailer for that in a previous post! It looks super cute, though I haven’t read the book, so I’m not sure how well it holds up. I’d be interested in a Bitchery discussion about it from those who have read Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre.

The Founding Member subscription is $100 and you receive:

  • A 2 year subscription (a 30% savings)
  • Invitation for a walk on role, premiere parties, or visit to set
  • Voting privileges on “Casting Your Book Boyfriend,” an exclusive reality show to find the next romantic leading man in their original content
  • Discounts on PassionFlix merchandise
  • Access to their site a month early and the option to have your voice heard in the future of PassionFlix
  • Be the first to know, via a private Founders club, about PassionFlix projects, options, casting, and news

The Founding Membership price of $100 for two years breaks down to about $4.17 per month and works out to an overall $24 discount. And…it’s for two dang years.

So far, my Founding Member subscription has lived up to its promises. I’ve gotten walk-on role invites, though they are in the Los Angeles area. I get regular email updates about upcoming content.

And, I just learned they’re starting to work on casting the hero of Royally Screwed by Emma Chase. I’ve read this one and I’m eager to vote on who gets to play him on screen.

I’ve also really liked my sneak peek at the site and the movie collection.

In the Beta version, there are currently twenty movies. There’s also a neat “Barometer of Naughtiness” that indicates how steamy things get. As of right now, the movies they have don’t go above level two.

There’s a decent breadth of diversity, subgenre, and release dates, with movies ranging from She’s All That to Bride & Prejudice to Roman Holiday.

I’m particularly excited to see that The Beautician and the Beast is on PassionFlix because it’s a really off the wall rom-com starring Timothy Dalton and Fran Drescher, and I happen to love every silly bit of it.

But this collection is just the start: PassionFlix recently stated in an email that more movies will be added.

Regarding distribution, here’s a comment from the PassionFlix Facebook page:

We launch fully (with our app) on September 1st in the US, but subscribers in England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and Canada will be able to view our originals – like Hollywood Dirt – when they premiere. England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and Canada are next for full launch!

Many areas will be able to access the original stuff, but they’re working on licensing for the content they don’t own. Hope that helps with your decision making!

NB: The links included are affiliate coded, and we receive a commission if you sign up through our links. No harm, no foul if you do not, but if you do, thanks for supporting the site!

The Founding Member subscription offer ends August 31 at midnight EST.

I keep looking at this, but can’t work out whether, as a Brit, it is better to do this now although we can’t get the app, or whether there will be a similar offer when they launch over here.

  2. Emily C says:

Strictly Ballroom and Roman Holiday? Last Holiday? I’m in for a $3.99 monthly pre- subscription at least. To be honest I’m not really so excited for the original movies as I’m more of a historical reader (although a movie of Act Like It would be in my top ten of the year!). But I’m impressed by the lineup of movies on deck. I agree with some earlier critics of it being -mostly- white (and hetero) so far… Beyond the Lights anyone? Love and Basketball?

  3. @Amanda says:

@RachelT: That’s a tough choice. I mean, if seeing the original content is something you’d rather do sooner as opposed to later, go for it. But if you’re pretty patient (since I haven’t seen a date thrown out yet for the full launch in England), there’s nothing wrong with biding your time!

@Emily C: I know more movies are slated to be added before September first, so we’ll see what happens on the diversity front. In terms of original diverse stuff, PassionFlix has picked up the rights to Brenda Jackson’s Grangers series.

Small prob: I wish we didn’t have to go through PayPal.

I just watched the trailer for “Hollywood Dirt.” Then I signed up.
