From Gry, our Norwegian Friday Videos Correspondent comes an acapella explanation of string theory, set to Bohemian Rhapsody. Because science!
Link!
I'll be honest, there are some parts that completely escape me, but I love the entire explanation of something so complex set to music, especially since it's this awesome dude's Master's thesis.
If you're looking for more science, have a look at the Guardian's video explanation of Stephen Hawking's theories about black holes.
I hope your weekend is full of music and inspiration and things that make you wonder.
Love lovelovelove. Even though I wouldn’t know string theory if it bit me on the unmentionables. As a musician and a fan of science (and ridiculous creativity), I give this a BIG THUMBS UP.
Ahh, I think this proves my theory that intense concentration on your thesis can drive you a little mad. Some of the craziest stunts and quasi-experiments at my university came out of bright people driven half-crazy with tension and learning and needing a break from it all.
Well done, young man. Brian May should be proud.
This is absolutely fantastic—thank you!
Einstein sock puppet!! Must! Have!
Gotta love a scientist who is brilliant enough to make this, and can still admit that he doesn’t get all the science in the equations in his own thesis.
On the whole “Broke down due to thesis writing”, I would like to submit “Thesis: The Musical”, which I don’t think has been featured here before.
It’s in spanish (and one of the vids is in Catalan), but it has English subs.
If I had to learn string theory, this is what I would need. This is just fantastic!
I went to watch this in the youtube and there was this most hilarious advert for “poo.pourri” with this english rose sitting on a toilet explaining why hers doesen’t stink… I DIED laughing. for serious.
