Pimp My Read: Win a Kindle Here, And Other Readers Elsewhere!

Kindle KeyboardContest time! I'm sitting over here, reading, so here's Ruthie Knox to tell you about the contest we're hosting this week!

The Contest!

Pimp My Read is your chance to win one of four fantastic e-readers, as well as best-selling, super-sexy, fun contemporary romances by authors Ruthie Knox, Sarah Mayberry, Shannon Stacey, and Molly O’Keefe. This week, we four authors bedeck ourselves in (virtual) feathers and gold chains, climb on top of our Pimp Caddies, and sing the praises of e-readers and digital books at four fantastic romance review sites: Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, Smexybooks, Dear Author, and The Season for Romance. At every site, one of us is giving away an e-reader, as well as prizes for runners-up. If you’ve been on the fence about which e-reader to get, or even why you would get one—or if you love your e-reader to bits and are dying to convert a friend or family member to the digital side—this is the contest you’ve been waiting for!

Pimp My ReadThe Prizes!

Sarah Mayberry is giving away a Kindle Touch 3G at Smexybooks,

Shannon Stacey is giving away a Nook SimpleTouch with Glowlight at Dear Author,

Ruthie Knox is giving away a Kindle Keyboard 3G at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books,

and Molly O’Keefe is giving away a Kobo Touch at The Season for Romance.

The winner of each e-reader and two runners-up at each site will also receive Exclusively Yours, Undeniably Yours, and Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey, Her Best Worst Mistake and Within Reach by Sarah Mayberry, About Last Night and Ride With Me by Ruthie Knox, and Can’t Buy Me Love by Molly O’Keefe.

Make It So: Ruthie’s Conversion Story

Picard and his Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and one of the things I’ve noticed is that everybody on the Enterprise has a Kindle Fire. Or possibly an iPad. Same size, same shape, same ability to pull up amazing amounts of information with the tap of a finger. Whenever Captain Picard needed to find out the specs on a mission or read about some obscure eighteenth-century French composer and Data wasn’t around, he always had his Unnamed Awesome Device (UAD) at hand to poke and frown at.

The Next Generation debuted in 1987, so that means that I wanted a UAD of my own for … *squinches forehead, crunches numbers* … twenty-one years before I got one. But once I got one, I gave up print books altogether.

Ride With Me Precipitous? Perhaps. But I had my reasons. First, I hate having things. I prefer to have the bare minimum number of things. Like, in the ideal world, I would be a bachelor with cinderblock bookshelves and two cans of soup in the pantry. But I read so much. And as you probably all know, when you read a lot, there’s this constant stream of books into the house. Sure, some of them are library books, but even library junkies end up with dozens of new books every year that have to be coped with. I don’t want to shelve them or keep them or pass them along to friends or send them to the paperback exchange. I want them to disappear!

Now that I have an e-reader, they do. I read the last line, I smile, I delete. Off to the archive the book goes, and I never have to think about it again unless I want to. I love living in the future!

The other extenuating factor is that books are heavy, cumbersome things. I think I strained my wrists holding the Twilight books above my head as I read them on the couch. Worse, sometimes I want to read and do other stuff at the same time, and that’s even harder. I figured out how to walk and read as a kid, no problem. Later, when I became an obsessive knitter, I learned to knit and read. I read the last Harry Potter book spread open on my lap, pages held by a book weight so I’d have my hands free to knit. But sometimes the book slid off and hit the floor, which was a bummer.

Then I had a baby, and the whole system went to hell. You know, it’s really hard to read and breast-feed at the same time. Sure, yes, yes, at first I thought I’d just want to stare at my baby and appreciate the miracle of life while I breast-fed him and bonded at some deep, cosmic level, but in fact that phase only lasted about two days. Babies eat slow, y’all. I needed a book. And it’s very hard to hold a book with one hand while you hold a baby with the other. You have to do that thing where you spread the book open with your thumb and your pinky, and my pinkies soon wearied of their new job.

Then one day in the hazy winter of 2008, my husband—who’s a bit of a computer nerd—walked into the living room and said, “Come in my office. You have to see this.”

“This” was the movie-ad-thing for the Kindle 2. Small! White! Attractive! Lightweight! Four bazillion dollars! “Order it,” I said. “Order it right now.” And God bless him, he did.

About Last Night Some things about living in the future are not as exciting as I had hoped they would be. Transportation, for instance, seems much less cool than it did seventy-five years ago. (Have you ever seen the trains of the 1950s? They were awesome!) Cooking is still a lot of work. Strange men still show up at my door trying to sell me magazines, and I don’t know how to make them stop. But I can now buy a book in my living room, read it immediately, and discard it—all without actually having to move my butt off my couch or strain my delicate girl-wrists. Guys, this is EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED.

Or almost everything. I think the e-reader designers of the future should make readers that beep when you lose them, because I’m always leaving mine somewhere random, like on top of the refrigerator or beside the bathroom sink, and then not being able to find it later. I bet Picard’s UAD had a beeper.

But enough about me—let’s talk about you! Were you an early convert to the e-reader or a reluctant late adopter? Or are you still holding out, waiting for somebody to talk you into this madness? Do you love your e-reader with a devotion bordering on the manic and wish you could talk your mom/grandma/best friend/husband into getting one? I’m giving away a Kindle Keyboard 3G (my device of choice) to the commenter who convinces me she (or he) has the best reason for wanting it for themselves or someone else, so let’s hear your stories. Two runners-up will get books, books, books!

The Fine Print (From Ruthie)

1. Feel free to increase your chances of winning by entering once at each of the four sites! But please, only one entry per site. Deliberate multiple comments on any individual e-reader giveaway post will get you disqualified.

2. The contest opens on each site when the post goes live and closes at 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, July 20.

3. Ruthie, Sarah (Mayberry), Shannon, and Molly will choose the winners from among the comments on the site where each posts. Feel free to entertain us or tug at our heartstrings — we’ll pick the winners whose comments most effectively sway us!

4. No purchase necessary. You must be 18 years of age or older to enter.

5. This contest is open internationally. The e-readers on offer will work in many, but not all, countries. Please be aware that geographical restrictions may affect your ability to use/enjoy your prize.

The Disclaimers (from SB Sarah)

1. I'm not being compensated for this giveaway. I mean, I got to look at Jean Luc Picard, which is never a bad thing, but otherwise, no compensation.

2. Void where prohibited.

3. Must be over 18, as stated above, plus wearing a riding habit, preferably with a jaunty feather.

4. Call before you dig. Call after you downward dog. Adding a comma makes that sentence even more fun!

I would give it to my sister. She just moved halfway across the country with two small kids and a U-haul packed to the brim. She had to give up her romance novel collection in the move to make room for important things like tricycles, strollers and snowsuits. My hard working, super stressed out, financially strapped sister deserves a break.  I want her to be able to download books from the library while not leaving the couch. I want her to escape during kid-nap-time to lands where the hunks all wear billowing shirts and the ladies are all as feisty and tenacious as she is.

  2. Heather E. says:

I want an e-reader for me, please! My husband is taking me on our first cruise after 18 years of marriage and years of saving. We haven’t been on vacation together, alone with out the 4 kids since 2004. My husband is a disabled veteran with many, many health issues. Recently (the week before July 4th)he was in the hospital for an extended period of time and we are not going to have as much spending money as we planned. Short-term disability insurance is not what it is cracked up to be. We are now on a limited budget for our dream vacation. With airline prices as high as they are and the outrageous baggage fees, I have been told NO BOOKS on vacation. So tell me, how am I supposed to enjoy my vacation with no books? I know they are space consuming but I have to take a few or 10 with me, right? I love to read. I’m rarely without a book in my purse. I could easily read 5 or 6 books on our 7 day cruise.

My solution was to take an ereader. Simple, compact, lightweight and easy to slip into my purse or beach bag. I love my husband and I’m so proud of him for overcoming all the challenges he faces with his disability. I am not upset that the vacation fund is now depleted to include only necessities and I can’t buy an ereader as planned. Spending time with him is important to me and I would never let him know that I secretly pine for an ereader for this vacation. I would NEVER let him know that I wanted something that is now not possible because he was in the hospital again. He has enough challenges, enough disappointment in his own life with his health and I refuse to contribute to his stress on any level. I took the same vows that he did, including ‘in sickness and in health’ and I am with him all the way.

Thanks for the opportunity to explain why I’d like an ereader. Selfish as it might be, I rarely get to have fun things for myself.

I got a Kindle for my birthday last year. (Ha. Actually, both my mom and my husband bought me one, and my mom just kept hers instead. I made it pretty clear it was the only acceptable gift. I waited to ask for one, until my local library had e-book lending.) It really did change the way I read, but it did not really change me as a reader. Confused? I guess I mean that I still use the library, both for print and ebooks, and am very selective about what I buy on my Kindle. (I love the samples! The biggest list on my Kindle was Samples. I love that I could keep all of the titles I was interested in handy. I would go in my local bookstore, Kindle in hand, and find exactly what I wanted for half the Kindle price.) My book budget hasn’t changed, but the access, my god the access! I read while doing the dishes, I read while breastfeeding, I read while waiting anywhere. (And I’m using “read” in the past tense, because almost a year to the day that I got my Kindle, I put it on the top of my car while putting one of the babies in his seat, and then drove off and never saw it again.)

So, I’m being selfish and want to win a Kindle for me. The pregnant mother of two boys under 3, I don’t get a lot of chances to be selfish. Reading keeps me sane. And my house needs a lot more sanity.

  4. j3nny says:

I want to win this eReader for one of my best friends. She loves reading but her current circumstances doesn’t allow her to splurge on having an eReader. Even though e-readers nowadays are slowly becoming more affordable, it’s just something she can’t afford to get right now. So it’d super awesome if I can win it for her!

  5. D Cross says:

For myself…I gave up on my Sony years ago when the Sony software became to cumbersome and took 30 minutes to load the front page, and I’ve been looking into jumping back into the ereader race. I have to say the idea of reading a book that didn’t make my wrists ache from keeping the book in position sounds heavenly.

  6. Michelle says:

I have been thinking about getting an e-reader for years.  But I love paper books, and I can’t convince myself that an e-reader would be as good.  Still, I’ve decided it’s time to try—the stacks of books around my tiny apartment are getting too large.

  7. Quilt Lady says:

I could say I want this e-reader for my son because he is in college but really I want it for myself, because I just had back surgery and will have a lot of reading time on my hands. Its going to be a long road ahead and this e-reader will help me through.

  8. shutter_red says:

I’m a chubby girl, who is driven by a ‘lil trashy reading at the gym. It is incredibly motivating and gets the heart rate up just enough to keep me running the last mile. I have worked very hard to achieve wellness and go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I’ve lost 40 pounds and ain’t stopping any time soon.  I’ve been wanting a Kindle for months. Carrying the tiny pulp fiction around or flipping the pages of a huge 800 page mass market is not conducive to a focused workout nor enjoyable reading. A Kindle would resolve so much and keep the fire under my booty lit to keep the weight loss dream alive!
My time at the gym is my time with a book as well as time with the body. It is very important to me and preserves my centered and sunny disposition! I told myself I would figure out a way to get a Kindle when I met my next weight-loss goal but every time I think I saved up enough to make the investment, something comes up. Here I am, at a mile stone with all the hard work but no Kindle.
Thanks for reading and for your consideration.

  9. Camille Silos says:

Ooo… I do hope I get to win the free e-reader; not for myself, mind you, but for my co-worker. She is a budding reader (she only started falling in love with books when she and I met in the company almost a year ago) who loves almost everything and anything I give her to read. However, when I got my own e-reader a few months ago, she has been unable to read the books I have been purchasing for my e-reader since I read every night and she does not have enough money to buy her own e-reader. I have been lending her my paperbacks and hardcovers, but the newer books are all in e-book format. If I win, I will definitely give it to her as a gift and help her kindle her love for reading even more by showing her the infinite adventures she can have with an e-reader and with the various writers out there.

  10. Jill B says:

I would really like to win an e-reader so that I could take it to work for demonstration purposes. I work at a public library where we subscribe to the Overdrive system which allows our patrons to check out ebooks, audiobooks, music and movies online with their library cards. It would be awesome if I had a device to use to demonstrate the system to our patrons.

  11. MD_uk says:

I’d love to win this for my mom. She lives in a country where Wi-Fi is not readily available when one is out and about, but where Whispernet is free. She also reads her books in English, and would really appreciate the built-in dictionaries.

  12. trefoil says:

My sister would love an e reader! I have one, and she liberates it every chance she gets. Her public library lends books in ebook format, which would be perfect for her—she lives in the country and isn’t old enough to drive, so she doesn’t get to the library as often as she would like.

  13. Raynell says:

Apparently it is time for the switch. Several books are only in digital format and would be easier storage wise. My girls continue to mock me and state I already own my own library. Thank you for providing your readers the oppurtunity to win an e-reader through contests. Best of luck and wishes;)

  14. Kimehak says:

More. Room for books and just want one

  15. Judi says:

I really hope I can win this so I can gift to my friend.
I always hope to one day win an ebook reader for her because I’m sick and tired of always going over and feeling sad for her that she always has to ask a family member to borrow their computer or THEIR ereader just so she can get two hours of reading time. That is usually all she gets and that sucks!! Sometimes her sisters can be real mean and then well.. her mom’s ereader is borrowed just fine but her mom is the type that if she saw her reading erotic romance she’d flip. so she has to hide it. lol… Sadly she’s been unemployed since the little botiuqe she used to work at closed. With no luck whatsoever of a call back of other places she’s applied. I’m barely scraping by too so I can hardly get her one now. I really want to get her one. I hate that she has to read on a stupid MP3 player that has the screen size of an original Ipod. Anyways, That’s whom I hope I can win this ereader for. My best-friend, Wendy.

  16. mel brock says:

I would love to win one for my mother, she is a big reader and both she and my dad are both big book collectors.  I think that they would, ultimately, love to reduce the amount of books that lie around the place, and an ereader is a big step in that direction!

  17. Jessi Gage says:

There are more laptops in my house than people. I figure it’s time for the ereaders to catch up. They are WAY outnumbered. Now, I could do the sensible thing and recycle the super-slow Toshiba Satellite with the tendency to blue-screen on my husband when he’s doing the budget on it, but since it’s the best laptop we have for buying iTunes and letting the kids watch movies, I guess it’s staying. That means, if there’s going to be a full-on technology war between laptops and ereaders in my house, the ereaders are going to get their butts kicked. So, please, help even the odds, send an ereader my way.

Also, I am trying to get my husband to stop borrowing my Kindle because he keeps saying things like, “Are there three people on this cover? Don’t you think that’s a little risque?” So if I win, I plan to give him my old one and have one all to myself;-)

  18. Amy Brooks says:

I have always wanted an e-reader but honestly the only way I will ever own one would be to win it. In 2005 I lost a baby girl to a genetic disorder. She was only sixteen months old. During the time my Anna was here we were in the hospital so much that my daughter Morgan thought it was just another home. She was three when Anna passed but she saved my life. She was the only thing that kept me breathing. When I found out I was pregnant last year I was so excited and terrified at the same time. My beautiful baby boy was born perfect and healthy. My husband and I talked about money and bills and he convinced me that we could make it on just his income so I could spend time with our children. It is so wonderful being a stay at home mom and even if it means not having all the extras that other people have. We have a roof over our heads and food in our stomachs and enough love to last a lifetime. It would be great to have an e-reader and I thank you for the chance at winning one. It’s so nice to know that there are people out there willing to make someone very happy with giveaways this wonderful. Good luck to everyone who enters!!!!

  19. Michelle C. says:

I want to win the kindle so that when the DH and I role play sexytimes, we can use this in the “distracted” Captain (I’m looking for an obscure French composer), there’s an emergency on the Holodeck, set phasers to stun scenario.

It would add some detail, and details can be important.

  20. Katerina says:

I absolutely love my kindle and if I won, I would give it to a friend of mine that really needs something good to happen. I love the idea of making a friend’s day a lot brighter.

  21. Leslie G. says:

I would love to win this e-reader for my 13 yo son.  He is visually impaired and finds reading large print is less of a strain on his eyes.  Although he has a membership to Bookshare and also checks out e-books from our public library, reading on the computer does cause eyestrain that I suspect an e-ink e-reader would not.  I have a Sony 505 that I LOVE, but it does not always enlarge print as much as he would like.

  22. Anubha says:

I want an e-reader for myself. here’s why:
    1) I love reading very much but the hard copies are costly for me to buy.
    2) So until last month i used to borrow books from one of my bestie as she had an awesome collection which keep on increasing but last week she moved out of state to a new place faraway from here to attend her college and i am left with no access to books.
    3) As for library there is not even a single library near my place and if by chance i stumble over any library they do not have any YA books only religious books… 🙁
    4) With not much money in hand I have last option of e-reader as e-copies are within my reach…
    5) I love to take books with me wherever i go but with no e reader i am restricted to one or two books… i use my computer to ecopies but could not carry them with me as i don’t have laptop… 🙁
    6) If i’ll have a e-reader all my money problems and book carrying problems will vanish away… I could not buy one for myself as where i live its too costly for me (due to our low currency rates). I could not even collect money as I could not work anywhere until i finish my studies and my pocket money is very less (in US $ its only $5).

thanks for this awesome chance to win an e-reader for myself… 🙂

    All the best Guys… 😀

  23. If I were to win I would give it to my 14 year old daughter.  She has never really liked to read but recently started messing around with my Kindle and found herself reading some of my books. Now she is asking me if she can download a few her friends have read.  I figure if an e-reader will get one more kid reading that I am all for it. Especially if that kid is mine because I am an avid reader and would love to talk to her about what we’ve read.  Luckily she didn’t find any of my smuttier stuff and I’d like to keep it that way.  She said she wants to be able to take it to school to read during A.R. time.  Can you imagine the phone call I would get if a teacher found Fifty Shades or something similar?  Oh dear…..I’d rather not go there.

  24. Ana Silva says:

I’d totally want that for myself seeing that I think I’m developing a back problem from carrying so many books with me around. My problem is that I read by moods and sometimes, I’m not in the mood for one book, so I always carry another in case I get bored. And let’s not talk about the danger of finishing a book and not having another to keep reading.

So yeah, my bag’s always pretty full of books and I’d love to be able to just carry a small, light, pretty bit of kit with me and be able to read to my heart’s content, and never again be faced with the danger of lack of books or boredom.

Also, increasing the font size is an option that I’d so love to try out.

  25. Patti Williams says:

I would keep it for myself. I love my Kindle app on my phone and o have a lot if books on there. It takes up storage space though on my phone or card. It would also be nice to have a larger reading surface and I would stop missing text messages because I was caught up in a book again. Makes my family nuts when I do that.

  26. Nat_isabel says:

If I win this I would gift it to my best friend. She basically opened me up to the reading world. She is always willing to talk about books whether it’s a trash, love, or gush conversation. We go to bookfair’s together and even read have our own mini book club. She is currently studying really hard in a librarian course and hopes to end up opening her own book shop. But because of that she doesn’t really have time for a full-time job and can’t afford her own e-reader which she would love.

In any case, thanks for the opportunity for me to win this for my best friend.

    Have a good one!

    Natalia.

  27. Heather from Australia says:

I would like to win this e reader for my mum.

At the end of her working life (about 20 years since she retired) computers were becoming common but she decided to be set against them (her excuse she could not read the screen with her bifocals) and she is still very technology resistant.

She rejects many paper books as the print is too small so if I could get her to give it a go I am sure I would have a convert.

If that does not work my 14 year old niece would be more than happy to receive it – more often instead of hello aunty Heather I get what books have your brought for me.

  28. Pbustamante says:

Need a Kindle for my friend who really needs one.  Hard for her to hold hardbacks, this would be really wonderful.

  29. Maureen says:

I would give it to my mom.  She loves romances and always has piles of them around the house.  But it is time for my parents to downsize and she will not have room for her massive piles of romances.  An ereader would be perfect for her.

  30. ErinT says:

I would love to win this kindle for my daughter. She is 10 years old, going into 5th grade. She is also a special needs child. She currently only reads at a first grade level. Getting her to sit down and read a book to me is like pulling teeth. I have my own kindle, and for some reason she LOVES to use it to read. I am all about encouraging her to love reading, like I do. Unfortunately it is not in my budget right now to buy her her own.
    Thanks for the chance!!

  31. Donna Asutaitis says:

I am dressed in black. My eyes are red. My nose is swollen and sore. Why am I this way? Because my beloved is dying and I am in mourning. My poor sweet kindle can no longer maintain a steady read, it’s lines waver and tremble and frequently it’s light flickers and everything stops….Woe, woe is me. Moreover I have within my grasp an ARC of Heart Secret which is in PDF…. and my precious cannot maintain an image, thus rendering our ability to commune over this delight useless. Oh, woe, woe. My sweet has no life insurance and when it gives it’s last gasp I don’t know how I will go on alone………

  32. Susan W. says:

I have a Kindle already but I would love to win an e-reader for my best friend. She’s as avid reader, when her husband lets her (jerk!) but can’t afford to get one for herself. Acutally, she’s the only person in her family that doesn’t get new things. Her husband is always buying for himself then telling her to figure out how to pay for it and her son is a high functioning autistic who loves his video games so any extra she has is for him. In order for her to be able to read when her husbands home she has to hide in the bathroom just to get a few minutes reading time.

I’m always talking about my Kindle and the different books I get for it that you can’t find in any of the stores where we live or they aren’t in print. She would love to have and e-reader because it would be easier to carry in her purse instead of a paper or hardback book.

She usually has to wait until a book shows up in a used books store before she can afford to get it because her husband thinks buying book is a waste of money. I buy her books and let her use my account at the used books store just so she can have something new to read. Several e-book sites offer free books that would save her even more money and I could help out by giving her gift cards that would go on her account to use when she wants. On the days that she does her bills and grocery shopping she could swing by here to use my internet and get whatever book she wants.

I think she really deserves an e-reader because she’s always doing things for her family, especially her son, and putting herself last.

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  33. M Kuxhaus says:

I would love to win an e-reader for my mom.  She just retired from teaching after 35 years.  As a high school teacher, she spent all her free time prepping for her 120-130 students and grading papers.  She rarely had time to sit down and read for pleasure.  Now she has time.  She can borrow any of my print books anytime, but she suffers from arthritis in her hands.  I think an e-reader would be easier on her hands, and as she ages, the adjustable font sizes would be better for her eyes.  As an added bonus, which I hadn’t considered until reading this, she hates clutter and owning anything she would need to dust, so an e-reader would totally score on that front.  Thank you so much for the chance to win.

  34. Guida says:

To be honest I don’t have an ereader. Although I eye them every time I see them on display, I have never gotten around to purchasing one. But now I must say that having an ereader at hand sounds marvelous especially when I’m running out of room in my house to keep my books. Winning this ereader would be fantastic and perhaps I could get my sister to start reading because she does not know what she’s missing.

  35. Jlm2509 says:

I’d love to win one for my husband.  He has my ereader right now at work, and my kids already are asking for it back.  Having another one here would be a lot easier right now!

  36. Kathryn Chungalao says:

I’d love to win this for myself. I’m a broke college student who loves books but can’t afford an e-reader. Kindle isn’t available here in the city where I live and can only be bought in our country(Philippines)‘s capital with shipping prices through the roof. IPads are sold in our local mall but they cost more than a semester’s tuition.

Our libraries aren’t like in your country and are strictly for research and educational purposes. One can only get affordable books from bookstores with used books (though I do love me some second-hand yellowed pages) and even then, there are few that I can or want to buy.

Dad doesn’t approve of buying books which aren’t for school and has since monitored my spending so I have to do my purchasing behind his back (which is tricky because he accounts every centavo I have) with very little help from my mom. Both aren’t fans of anything fantasy, fiction, romance, and others(see ‘worldly’ books) and this is quite a dilemma for me because I’ve only just started reading romance a few months ago(and have loved every word/second of it, buying six Avon beauties in the span of a week with me visiting the local bookstores every other day after class). I’ve been buying mainly fantasy and sci-fi since I could learn the concept of saving(Dad won’t let me work/earn my own money yet until I graduate. Seriously.)

I used to have a phone with a pdf reader but I ended up straining my eyes for weeks(you know when you just can’t stop reading even if your eyes seriously hurt from the tiny letters.yeah)

I dunno if this contest considers international entries so I’m crossing my fingers.

I want to win the ereader for my library. I am the Adult Services Manager at the local library. We offer weekly tech classes to help our patrons learn how to download ebooks from our library. Demand keeps increasing, and our budget keeps decreasing. Thanks!

I was completely against E-readers when they were introduced because it was another gadget being forced on me. It wasn’t until some books that I wanted to read were only released in ebooks that I changed my mind and had to scramble to learn about reading ebooks.
Now I see the convenience of being able to carry several books with you while on the go without taking up space and being able to get instantly get a book at any time of day or weather.
Yep, I’m convinced that I should get my first E-reader.

I am poor. I mean live with my mom even though I graduated college nearly 3 years ago poor.  I second guess $2 purchases.  I get ridiculously happy finding any sort of coinage on public floors.  I wait FOREVER to buy a book b/c I have to find them half off or more or else, I just lustily stare at their full price stickers and (sadly, slowly with a glance or two over my shoulder) walk away.  I was very reluctant to enter into the world of e-readers. Books smell so good! I can’t dog ear a page EXACTLY under the word I stopped reading if my book is electronic. I’d probably drop an e-reader on my face while reading in bed… The excuses were all there, but lately I’ve been dropping subtle hints to the boyfriend (Our 10 year anniversary is arriving fast. TEN FRIGGIN YEARS.) For example here is one such subtle hint: “I think I need a kindle. I have no more room for books and I want to keep them ALL.” or “I’m poor, I need a kindle because books on there are cheaper. [Insert loud sigh]”

Thank you so very much for this chance to expand my library without having to empty another drawer to fit just a few more books into my room.

Thanks for the great contest. I would keep the e-reader for myself. I love to read and am running out of places to keep my books. Also, instead of carrying around several books to read while I wait at places( like the doctor, mechanic, the park), I could bring the e-reader and my choice of several books and no one would be able to see what I was reading and question me about it. I have not been able to afford one yet. Thanks for the chance to win.
