This is another marvelous video from Ron Charles, who reviews books and rocks YouTube. Sh*t Book Reviewers Say.
Link!
I think my favorite one was the part with the paper towels, both in the store and on the roll. Well played, sir.
I hope every book you read this weekend is a tour de unputdownable Brawny.
Love it! Thanks for posting. 🙂
Appearance-wise, he’s like the love child of Nicholas Cage and Craig Ferguson, if such a thing were possible. I can barely focus on what he’s saying while I stare at him.
I’d like to try wearing those 3 pairs of glasses at work to see if anyone would even notice.
Hah! Of course now I’ll be self-conscious when writing my next book review online…
I think I saw some Stephen Colbert in him, too…
It’s very good….if you LIKE that sort of thing (g)
Comments like that are made for the “like” button!
Love this! My favorite was “unflinching”—it was the only time he broke character.
LOL, my fave was the “unputdownable” one—made me give a bark of a laugh out loud…
That was awesomely hilarious! (But secretly—or not so much, now that I’m saying it—I think I like it a lot because in all my reviews (not THAT many, but I’m getting there) I think the only line I’ve ever typed is, “I just don’t care about the characters.” Wheee, I’m not too clichéd!)
Loved it! Especially the “haunting” part and the one where he says he doesn’t own a tv. 🙂
I think Mr. Charles nailed it.
Sarah, the comments in this topic and others are out of sequence. They don’t appear to be in order by time and they aren’t, what’s the word, chained, linked? Threaded, that’s it! I noticed it yesterday in the Loveswept topic.
That is the best “Sh*t [insert plural noun here] Say” video ever. Riveting.
Hey Darlynne: what do you mean? They’re in order chronologically as near as I can tell, but I don’t thread the comments. If you reply to a comment it appears directly beneath the comment while you’re typing, but upon refresh appears at the bottom of the comment line. It’s been that way for awhile.
I can’t decide which I love more: “lapidary prose” (wonder how many hits you’d get if you ran the phrase through a database of NYT book reviews) or the one about the North Korean fablist (fableist?) you’ve probably never heard off – I guess that would be the book-reviewer-as-hipster-douchebag?
Oh, and one of my favorite review lines ever was supposedly uttered by Abraham Lincoln, although he probably didn’t really say it: “People who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like.”
Loved it, for more book reviews you can also check out The book report, informative, though not as funny.

On my screen, as seen through Firefox, your response to my original comment is #13 and I’m now #14, so yours shows up first. Each time I’ve come to this thread and others, I see them in a different order and with different numbers. Sometimes, they’re newest first as in the “What Are You Reading” thread. It could just be my computer that’s giving me the feeling that nothing stays where I think it was originally.
HAHAHA!!! I didn’t expect to laugh so hard at this.
I love his video reviews on youtube. I just wish he would post more.
But I guess maybe he’s busy reading.
