Here’s what it looks like:

T-shirt that says, "We lose ourselves in books. We find ourselves there too."

  • If I Was Your Girl

    If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo

    RECOMMENDEDIf I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched, yay! This book was recommended during our Transgender Romance Rec League. It’s a YA novel and has won several awards. The book does deal with some serious issues, like bullying and depression, so I’m throwing out a trigger warning.

    A new kind of big-hearted novel about being seen for who you really are.

    Amanda Hardy is the new girl in school. Like anyone else, all she wants is to make friends and fit in. But Amanda is keeping a secret, and she’s determined not to get too close to anyone.

    But when she meets sweet, easygoing Grant, Amanda can’t help but start to let him into her life. As they spend more time together, she realizes just how much she is losing by guarding her heart. She finds herself yearning to share with Grant everything about herself, including her past. But Amanda’s terrified that once she tells him the truth, he won’t be able to see past it.

    Because the secret that Amanda’s been keeping? It’s that at her old school, she used to be Andrew. Will the truth cost Amanda her new life, and her new love?

    Meredith Russo’s If I Was Your Girl is a universal story about feeling different—and a love story that everyone will root for.

    If I Was Your Girl was a really sweet book. It’s deffo YA. Although I disliked a couple of things, I think that this is a book worth reading. 🙂

  2. Cristie says:

    Mindy McGinnis’ A Madness So Discreet is a kindle daily deal-I haven’t read it but read the description & it sounds freaking amazing. Has anyone read it who can tell me if it’s as good as it sounds before I one-click?

  3. Kim W. says:

    The tee shirt is cute, but the placement of the word “BOOKS” makes me wary of this design, as a busty lady. I still have buyer’s remorse about a tee I bought with two big owls on it… @_@

  4. Christine says:

    Can no one else besides me not read this book because the title should be “If I WERE Your Girl”? Just me? Ok.

  5. PamG says:

    @Christine

    It’s not? My brain autocorrected the “was.”

  6. Mary says:

    @Christine
    While the part of my heart that is an ex-grammar nerd cringes, the part of heart that is a linguistics minor acknowledges that grammar can change based on speech pattern, and as many people say “If I was”, the English language is now heading towards a complete erasure of the subjunctive.
    (I hope I don’t sound pedantic. I’ve just had to discuss this particular English quirk so many times!)

  7. Kim W. says:

    @Christine, I reconciled myself with the title by thinking it was perhaps an intentional play on words. It sounds like the book focuses a lot on the conflict about who she was in the past (not your girl, or anyone’s girl, because she was Andrew) and who she has become.

  8. Christine says:

    @Mary
    What’s funny is I’m ok with almost all other changes based on use but this one is my huge sticking point. I won’t correct people, but I will completely avoid songs or books that use it incorrectly!

  9. Hazel says:

    @Christine: I’m so glad I’m not the only one who notices things like this. 🙂

  10. Bonnie B says:

    @Christine That drives me batty, too.

  11. Susan/DC says:

    Not sure if the line with books would be over the bust or if the line above it would be — depends on where the graphic is placed. I’d have to see the whole shirt front to get a sense of what is where.
