Interesting story about Mills & Boon books.
I remember when I got caught reading my mom’s romance books, she gave me her old medical romances from the 60s to read. That’s where I found her copy of Peyton Place mixed in. Oops. But those medical romances did have female doctors in addition to nurses–I think my mom’s were set in the US, and quite a few were the Cherry Ames series.
