Books On Sale

A Thriller, a Sports Romance, & a Boxed Set

  • A is for Alibi

A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton

A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price-match by most vendors. I feel like we featured this rather recently, but as part of today’s KDD, books A through O in the Kinsey Millhone series are on sale. I think P is missing though. So, if you want to begin building your digital Sue Grafton library, this sale is for you.

When Laurence Fife was murdered, few mourned his passing. A prominent divorce attorney with a reputation for single-minded ruthlessness on behalf of his clients, Fife was also rumored to be a dedicated philanderer. Plenty of people in the picturesque southern California town of Santa Teresa had a reason to want him dead. Including, thought the cops, his young and beautiful wife, Nikki. With motive, access, and opportunity, Nikki was their number-one suspect. The jury thought so, too.

Eight years later and out on parole, Niki Fife hires Kinsey Millhone to find out who really killed her late husband.

A trail that is eight years cold. A trail that reaches out to enfold a bitter, wealthy, and foul-mouthed old woman and a young boy, born deaf, whose memory cannot be trusted. A trail that leads to a lawyer defensively loyal to a dead partner–and disarmingly attractive to Millhone; to an ex-wife, brave, lucid, lovely–and still angry over Fife’s betrayal of her; to a not-so-young secretary with too high a salary for too few skills–and too many debts left owing: The trail twists to include them all, with Millhone following every turn until it finally twists back on itself and she finds herself face-to-face with a killer cunning enough to get away with murder.

  • Normal

    Normal by Graeme Cameron

RECOMMENDED: Normal by Graeme Cameron is $2.99 at Amazon, which means the sale could end soon. Elyse mentioned this in a previous post on Women in Psychological Thrillers and said:

Normal by Graeme Cameron is delightfully weird fun. Told from the perspective of a serial killer who is keeping a woman captive in his basement, we see her through his eyes only. This sounds like it would 1000% squicky and DNW, but Cameron makes his unnamed protagonist, if not likable or emphatic, engaging enough that it’s easy to keep reading.

This is a love story. No, really.

He lives in your community, in a nice house with a well-tended garden. He shops in your grocery store, bumping shoulders with you as you pass him and apologizing with a smile. He drives beside you on the highway, politely waving to let you into the lane ahead of him.

What you don’t know is that he has an elaborate cage built into a secret basement under his garage. And the food that he’s carefully shopping for is to feed a young woman he’s holding there against her will–one in a string of many, unaware of the fate that awaits her.

This is how it’s been for a long time. It’s normal…and it works. Perfectly.

Then he meets the checkout girl from the 24-hour grocery. And now the plan, the hunts, the room…the others. He doesn’t need any of them anymore. He needs only her. One small problem–he still has someone trapped in his garage.

Discovering his humanity couldn’t have come at a worse time.

  • Love on the Tracks

Love on the Tracks by Tamsen Parker

Love on the Tracks by Tamsen Parker is 99c! This is the first book in the Snow and Ice Games series, and was mentioned in our recent Rec League of Winter Olympics romances. Perfect timing! Be warned, though, that this book (and the others in the series) are on the shorter side.

Welcome to the Snow and Ice Games where the competition is fierce and the romance is HOT.

Rowan Andrews is the unexpected darling of the Denver Snow and Ice Games. Luge has never captured the American public’s imagination as much as figure skating or even hockey, but her outsized personality and dare-devil ways have got everyone’s eyes glued to the track. Including a certain chart-topping heartthrob.

Zane Rivera is the lead singer of License to Game, the hottest band in the country. When Zane finds out Rowan Andrews has had some complimentary things to say about him, he arranges to meet her while he’s in Denver enjoying the games. And when a photo of him kissing Rowan on the cheek goes viral, they both see the advantages of faking a relationship for the publicity.

After Rowan’s injured in her final race, their relationship starts to feel all too real to Zane. But is this rock star ready to fall in love?

  • The Duke’s Obsession Bundle

The Duke’s Obsession Bundle by Grace Burrowes

The Duke’s Obsession Bundle by Grace Burrowes is $3.82 at Amazon and $4.99 elsewhere. I know this sale price is a tad higher than those we usually feature, but it’s three full-length historical romances for less than $5. Still not too shabby. The bundle collects the first trilogy in the Windham series. Do you have a favorite out of these three?

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Grace Burrowes delivers remarkable characters, intriguing plots, and freshly imagined Regency settings in this unforgettable trilogy about three noble brothers. A Regency era battle of wits, wills, and the sexes, with a wily old duke determined to see the succession of his line secured, and his three headstrong sons equally determined to resist the bonds of matrimony.

THE HEIR: The Earl of Wyndham, weighed down by responsibilities, is determined to avoid the summer rounds of matchmaking mamas, so he stays in his London townhouse for the summer. There he discovers a potentially perfect duchess in his lovely, mysterious housekeeper.

THE SOLDIER: Devlin St. Just, the Duke’s oldest, but illegitimate, son, arrives at his new estate weary in body and spirit. There he finds that the previous owner’s bastard daughter and her beautiful cousin are his responsibility and are making his life almost unbearably complicated.

THE VIRTUOSO: Gifted pianist Valentine Windham, youngest son of the Duke of Moreland retreats to the country after an injury robs him of his musical ability. There he learns from beautiful young widow Ellen Markham that he can be loved even when his music falls silent.

  1. DiscoDollyDeb says:

NORMAL, which I have not read, sounds a bit like John Fowles’s THE COLLECTOR—an oldie but a goodie from the mid1960s. Probably one of the first “first-person abductor narrated” psychological thrillers.

  2. Jaime says:

“A Distant Heart” by Sonali Dev is on sale at Amazon for $2.99. I’ve already read it twice, but didn’t have a digital copy. It’s such a great book!

  3. Erin says:

    (P is after O, that’s why it’s not included!)

  4. Marci says:

Several classic 90s Amanda Quick books are $4.99 right now on Amazon and Kobo. They’re usually $7.99 and I don’t see them marched down very often. There is also a 2-book bundle of Surrender/Seduction for $4.99 that I grabbed.

  5. Emily C says:

Sadly the deal on A Distant Heart is no longer going on (at least on Amazon in the US) A Change of Heart is $2.99 though (I already have that one though)

  6. Rebecca says:

Oooh, a change of heart was on my wish list, Thank you Emily!

  7. Katie Lynn says:

An Unsuitable Heir by KJ Charles is currently $1.99. It’s the most current of her Sins if the Cities MM historical series

  8. The Other Kate says:

“Normal” = DO NOT WANT. I’m struggling to imagine a more horrifying premise. Kill the kidnapper with fire!
