Summer Crochet Giveaway

It’s time for another giveaway, this one for all the happy hookers out there–our crochet friends!

Close up of giveaway contents: Bag, needles, books, yarn and hand cream

This giveaway includes:

A Crochet or Die tote bag by Spirit West Designs. The bag is 100% canvas cotton and measures 15″ X 19.”

Yarn! From another one of my favorite indie dyers, this is Dyeabolical Yarns Very Starry Night:

This yarn is called Starry Night and is a mix of yellow gold and dark blue like the Van Gogh painting

Isn’t it gorgeous? The yarn is somewhere between DK and sport weight and comes in at 270 yards. It is 100% non super wash wool.

A Feelin Super Fine project bag (I crack up every time I look at it).

A Fabulous notions bag, that totally works for storing your hooks.

A size K rainbow wood crochet hook from Knit Picks.

A size H caspian wood crochet hook from Knit Picks.

A tube of The Naked Bee hand and body lotion in Grapefruit Honey Blossom scent.

A hand sewn felt roll up case for storing crochet hooks.

And of course, books! We have The Girl from Savoy by Hazel Gaynor, which RHG adored, The One for Me by Sydney Landon, and a baseball romance, Drive You Wild by Jennifer Bernard.

Standard disclaimers apply: we are not being compensated for this giveaway. Void where prohibited. Open to international residents where permitted by applicable law. Must be over 18 and ready to hook as if your life depended on it! Rest your hands as needed, preferably by listening or reading a good book. The Starry Night yarn also has hypnotizing properties, so try not to stare at it too long! Comments will close around noon EDT Friday, 5 August and a winner announced later that same day.

Ready to enter? Just tell us in the comments what project you’re crocheting this summer, or what you wish you were making!

Good luck!

I am working on a blanket for my nephew. I have 11 nieces and nephews and last year thought it would be cool to make a blanket for each one for Christmas. The little girls all got giant Mermaid blankets in their favorite colors and the little boys got sharks, complete with teeth so when they are inside the blanket, it looks like they are being eaten. A couple of the teenagers wanted them, too. But A did not — he wanted a regular blanket in Seahawks colors so that is my current project. After that I have one more mermaid blanket to make for my 15 yo niece. Then hubby has said I am not allowed to buy yarn for 5 years. LOL!!

  2. Avital Ordan says:

I’m mostly stash busting with wooleater blankets. Also, the Frozen charachters – Elsa and Olaf so for with plans for Sven and Anna

  3. Lisa Brown says:

I want to start a winter scarf; haven’t decided on the color yet, once I do, I will start it. Thanks for the chance 🙂

  4. Francesca says:

A ridiculously complex Tunisian crochet sampler afghan.

  5. Lostshadows says:

A small purse, as soon as I find a pattern I love. Or maybe Pac-man and a bunch of ghosts.

  6. Rae Alley says:

I’m finishing up my daughter’s scarf and have to make one for my son and husband yet…but it has been so hot in taking a mini break and hooking bowl/mug wraps so we stop burning our fingers post microwave

  7. SandyL says:

Right now I am crocheting a dragon to go into an ostrich egg. It will go back to my church’s Christmas bazaar. I hope to eventually crochet a shawl…but I have about three shawls on knitting needles! A little startitis anyone?

  8. Lindsay says:

I’m new to crochet so trying out linen coasters for summer iced drinks!

  9. Sophydc says:

I am working on an afghan for my daughter and sit upons to take camping.

  10. faellie says:

A beanie in those colours would be fun, and there is a chance it could be done for winter, too.

  11. cayenne says:

I’m currently planning to start a crochet cables baby blanket (this one, for anyone who’s interested http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/solas-caomh) – just trying to find the right yarn, since the one in the pattern calls for hand wash, and what new mom has the time to hand wash a blanket? None, so: yarn hunting.

Thanks for the giveaway – so excited for a crochet one!!

  12. Kim says:

I recently succumbed to the itch to make dishcloths again. I think summer is all about quick easy projects that you can finish in the span of a movie. I just finished a washcloth to send to my daughter along with a bar of handmade soap.

  13. PSJ says:

I just finished crocheting a rabbit with enormous ears — a baby toy — and I think I’m going to make an octopus next.

  14. Jenny says:

I’m keeping it simple this summer: I’m crocheting a fuzzy green wrap (or small blanket, depending on how far my yarn goes) in preparation for when it cools down and is actually chilly at my desk at work.

  15. Sara says:

I’m crocheting the edging to a friend’s sweater to repair some spots where it came unraveled. Happy hooking!

  16. Lisa J says:

I’m working on an afghan for my former boss. I made him one when we worked together and he loved it. He turns 75 this year and I figured I would make him another one for one of his other homes.

The yarn is soooooooooooo pretty. I want!

  17. Katy L says:

I’m not crocheting at the moment, but I need to get back to it. I bought some yarn that I intended to use to make scarves for my sisters, and I need to get cracking if I’m going to finish them for Christmas. Thanks for the giveaway!

@cayenne – I recently made a baby blanket from Caron’s Simply Soft yarn. It’s acrylic, so it’s washable, and is has a really soft silky feel to it. It’s not a “baby” yarn, so it doesn’t come in the traditional baby pastels, but it does come in some very pretty sold and variegated colors. BTW, I looked at that pattern you’re planning to use – it will be gorgeous when you’re done! I admire your skill – obviously far beyond mine!

  18. RENEE KOELLER says:

My next project I want to make is a baby blanket for a friend who is expecting. (Beautiful yarn in the giveaway!) Thanks for the chance.

  19. Harper Gray says:

Usually I knit or embroider–this summer I’m actually crocheting for the first time. My project is just the learning at this point; I don’t have super high hopes for the actual product. 🙂

  20. Austyn says:

I plan on making a few dishcloths as well. Something small and easy to work on during my commute.

  21. Kim W says:

It’s too hot to crochet in the summer but if I do, I really like to crochet small things in cotton yarn.

  22. Kelly Ramsdell says:

Currently making a dragon wing scarf for a friend.

  23. Rhi says:

So many things! A snood, some brooches, a cardigan, some baby clothes and blankets as gifts, plus I’m trying to experiment with Tunisian crochet in the round.

  24. Christina says:

    Pokemon plushies for my kids!

  25. Marissa Backlin says:

I am making two baby blankets for expecting family members: both babies are first babies and expected to be only babies, so I am working hard to make both mommies feel excited!

  26. Becca says:

    I want to learn 🙂

  27. susan says:

    I am crocheting a hat.

  28. Judith K says:

I wish i was starting a granny square afghan. I am entering for my friend Liz who makes prayer shawls for her church. Ive always admired her for doing that so i want to win this and give it to her. She is also the person that recommended i read Outlander in 2001. 🙂

  29. Laine says:

I’m making cushion covers. I also made a novelty item that I have no idea what to do with. A nasty swear in filet crochet. Currently looking for a pattern for a throw.

  30. I love Dyeabolical too! I’ve been crocheting a bunch of amigurumi this summer for swaps. I just did a cheshire cat and a sheep. I’m planning a sock monkey and maybe something else.

  31. Kelly says:

Currently I’m crocheting a c2c afghan in pink, white, and gray.

  32. Diana says:

Thanks for the awesome giveaway– that yarn is GORGEOUS! Also, I have that Knit Picks Feelin’ Superfine project bag, & I love it. ^_^

I need to crochet some amigurumi. Or this chicken purse that I’ve been eyeing for a while: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-cluck-clutch

  33. Pam Brais says:

I’m just a raw beginner, so my summer project is to master the face cloth. I would love to own all the tools and yarn in your giveaway. I would love all those books too. I love to read.

  34. Mara says:

I am making a baby blanket for expecting friends – I don’t dare reveal the full surprise even with the anonymity of an internet comment, but it is Star Wars themed.

  35. Renee Kapusniak says:

Thank you for the chance to win the beautiful yarn and other fun items. I wish I was making a prayer shawl right now since I haven’t found the right colors. This would be perfect!

  36. Jessica says:

I finished a baby blanket last night made out of grey, black and purple yarn

  37. Chris Alexander says:

I just finished a cowl that my mom requested of me. It was her Christmas gift from last year. I gave her a coupon to choose the project and yarn. I’m currently working on an Anger doll for my son. I have a Tunisian shawl for me on hold.

  38. Allie N says:

I’ve been working on a few items! A hat for my neighbors newborn due in a couple weeks as well as a nice big blanket for my sweet niece who is due in November. I’m also forever making things for my daughter, usually quick single-naptime headbands, but right now it’s a monkey hat because winter is coming!! 🙂

  39. Lin says:

This summer I’m working on slippers and washcloths for The Pink Slipper Project which are then sent to domestic violence shelters. This month will mark 280 pairs slippers and 150 washcloths from me for the year, but there are other members who make twice that many.

  40. Liz says:

I’m still working on learning and expanding my skills, I’m left handed so I’m watching allll the YouTube tutorials for left handed people. I’m working on a scarf for my friend because she’s awesome and lives in a colder place than San Diego.
