This year, RWA is live-streaming the festivities once again at 8:00pm PST (11:00pm EST) this Saturday, July 16th! Unfortunately, due to holy-cow travel and a death in the family, I won’t be able to be online during the RITAs, and I’m very sorry to miss the fun. I know the live stream is a blast to watch, and I hope that if you can, you’ll tune in.
If you’d like to peruse the books up for a RITA this year, find yourself a comfy seat and read through the reviews from this year’s challenge! Here they are broken down by genre:
Romance novella
Short contemporary
Short historical
Mid-length contemporary
YA romance
Inspirational
Paranromal romance
Best First Book
Romantic suspense
Long contemporary
Erotic romance
Long historical
If you’d prefer the quick and dirty overview, we compiled all of the grades this year in a spreadsheet.
Big huge thanks to everyone who reviewed a book this year, and extra big huge thanks to Amanda for coordinating the project.
Anyone care to make predictions on the winners? What will you be drinking while you watch?
UPDATE: The winners are listed here! Congratulations to all the authors!
I won’t be able to watch, since they start at midnight in my time zone and I have to get up early to preach tomorrow morning… I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see the results.
Happy watching everyone!
Just wanted to extend my condolences for your loss. I’m one of your longtime readers.
Thank you. My husband’s grandmother passed away at the rather incredible age of 99. May we all live as long and as joyful lives.
Quick question – where can we watch the streaming?
@T. You can watch the livestream on their website http://www.rwa.org
I’m home this year so should be able to watch (it wouldn’t let me last year on my phone or tablet).
I will miss the livechatting here on the blog.
My condolences Sarah! I hope your family finds support and comfort within rach ither and your SBTB community.
I am happy that two self-published books won. RWA is keeping up with the way publishing is changing. (Also, is “For Real” the first LGB book to win?)
Tiffany Reisz’s book won last year or the year before – the characters are bisexual I believe.
@ SB Sarah – so sorry to hear of your loss. My grandmother died last year at 95, and no matter how long we have a loved one, it’s never long enough. But how wonderful to have had them as long as we did!
@SBSarah -my condolences you and your family. However long we get with our loved ones, it is never enough.
@SBSarah – my condolences to you, your husband, and the rest of your family. To reach 99 is a terrific achievement; I’m sure the long time you all had with her have resulted in some amazing memories, and I hope those memories will help you all with your grief. Oif simchas xo
