For the Sake of a Scottish Rake by Anna Bradley is $1.99! This is a historical romance that released in February. It also seems full of catnip with a friends to lovers fake relationship. It sounds really fun, but I know myself and friends to lovers isn’t my bag.
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), but we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading April’s New Releases, Part Two→
This HaBO comes from Jenny, who is searching for a historical romance: Looking for a historical romance. I don’t remember too much unfortunately. I think the first scene between the hero and heroine (possibly even the first scene of the book) takes place in an alleyway. I think they are acquainted with each other or know of each other somehow. Maybe he’s a friend of her family or her brother. Anyway, either it’s an alleyway … Continue reading HaBO: Sealed with a (Maybe) Kiss→
RECOMMENDED: Rebel by Beverly Jenkins is $1.99! Claudia wrote a guest review for this one before coming onboard. She gave it a B+:
One of the greatest joys of reading this book was seeing Val reconnecting with her inner hellion, and starting to believe she too could experience a great love.
This HaBO request is from Elaine, who is looking for a historical romance: This novel takes place after Waterloo. The heroine is collecting for charity. She goes to the home of her brothers best friend. He is in the bath. The butler thinks she is someone else and takes her to the bedroom. The couple is forced to marry. Sarah and I both agree this HaBO reminds us of poetry – HaBOetry.
PODCAST RECOMMENDED: Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin is $3.99! This was recently recommended on our podcast episode with Sarah J. Maas and it definitely seems of interest to romance readers. It’s a YA fantasy with a marriage of convenience between a secret witch and a witch hunter.
I feel like I should apologize for Cover Snark being so nip-heavy, but truly, the Snark giveth. Sarah: It’s like the dude from twilight and Richard Moll had a baby, and it’s the dude, not the infant. Lara: If there were ever a case for “copy and paste is a mistake”, this cover would be it. Maya: Is there a pair of feet sprouting from the bassinet???? Amanda: The bassinet is giving me Baby Yoda … Continue reading Cover Snark: Nips Out for Jesus→
RECOMMENDED: Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas is $1.99! So many readers were looking forward to this book when it first released, and Carrie gave it a B+:
Devil in Spring was so delightful that I read it slowly because I had to take frequent squee breaks. I truly cannot sufficiently express how overjoyed this book made me. That said, I don’t think it will be everyone’s catnip, because the main character sometimes seems overly young and naïve, even given her character quirks.
First of all, this is not a post about stuff you should be doing during quarantine. Unlike any jackwagons advocating we completely transform ourselves mentally or intellectually during quarantine, I personally see this as a traumatic time and it’s really important to be gentle with ourselves. This post is just about what helped settle my anxiety brain right now, in hopes that maybe it would help someone else, too. As I’ve mentioned many times, knitting … Continue reading Elyse’s Knitting: Stash Busting→
In a recent discussion of things we’re loving that are getting us through the Strange Quarantine Times (side question: how many ways in email, marketing pitches, and news articles have you seen the current situation described? I might have a complete bingo board’s worth at this point) Shana brought up…BritBox. Oh, crumbs. Shana: I splurged and got a Britbox subscription. It seems to have every BBC and ITV show ever made, and I’m watching all … Continue reading What We Love on Britbox, Acorn, and More: Streaming International Murder→
One Night Wife by Ainslie Paton is 99c! This is book one in The Confidence Game series and I thought we had mentioned it previously on the site, but alas, it did not already exist in our database. It’s possible I saw it from Elyse’s Goodreads because she rated it five stars.
