Books on Sale: Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots & More

RECOMMENDED: Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots is $1.99! Sarah reviewed this one and gave it an A:

In reading and then re-reading this book, I’ve discovered so many more layers, hidden parallels, and very clever dissections of the fictional world of the characters and of the actual reality that this book resides within. Hench is delicious in its anger and ferocity, chilling in its deadpan snark and arctic clarity of analysis and assessment, and meticulous in its nuance. It’s a villainously wonderful good time.

Lightning Review

Spear

While I wouldn’t call Spear a romance novel specifically, it is an amazing, detailed historical novel that includes a f/f romance. This book retells the Percival legend from the King Arthur mythos as a feminist queer fantasy story set in sixth-century Britain with elements of Welsh mythology. Nicola Griffith is known for her meticulous research, as seen in her novel Hild as well as in this story. This research lends Spear a grounded feel that … Continue reading Spear by Nicola Griffith
