Welcome back, y’all! I love doing these recommendation posts for you. The Bitchery seems to enjoy them, but I also get to hear about all the books you’ve been recommending to people and some good ones you’ve picked up for yourself. Here are a few I’ve recommended recently or that I often go-to for specific reading requests! As always, sound out below with recommendations of your own!

RECOMMENDED: To Catch An Earl by Kate Bateman is $1.99! This is the second book in the Bow Street Runners series and Elyse gave it an A:
To Catch an Earl is a fun, fast-paced read with lots of sexual tension and capers a-plenty. It’s been one of my favorite books so far this year and I highly recommend it.

It has been a week, also a month, a few years, and everything is a lot. I asked the reviewer team to share some of their favorite serotonin-boosting happy places online, from Instagram feeds to YouTube Channels to physical locations we love. My latest online happy place is Cloud Gardener UK on YouTube. Jason Williams lives on an 18th floor apartment in Manchester and has the most incredible balcony garden. He was recently accepted into the … Continue reading Happy Places to Boost Your Serotonin →

RECOMMENDED: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang is $1.99! I’m jealous of those who get to read this for the first time. We had a wonderful guest squee of this and it was my favorite read of 2018:
I truly loved this book. Loved. It made me feel like a champagne bubble – all fizzy and light. When I think of all the magical feelings romance gives its readers, I will forever think of this book.

When the opening pages of a book demonstrate the writer’s deep fluency and familiarity with romance tropes, even by being extremely meta about it, it’s a signal for me that I can trust the book I’m reading to fulfill the expectations I have. If Book Lovers were a person, it would probably be wearing a t-shirt that read, “I am your catnip, Sarah,” and would politely ask if it could hug me. Because this narrative simultaneously … Continue reading Book Lovers by Emily Henry →
This Rec League comes from Kayla. Thanks, Kayla! I’m dying for some BIPOC vampires I can really sink my teeth into. Ideally wise cracking and leather pants wearing but I’m not that picky. I just want more diversity in my night life. Shana: Well, there’s classics that I love, like Jewelle Gomez’s The Gilda Stories , Tananarive Due’s My Soul to Keep , and Octavia Butler’s Fledgling , but that doesn’t get you the lighthearted … Continue reading The Rec League: BIPOC Vampires →

Sarah posted some resources to help local abortion funds and I’ll be reposting those below. Try to find a moment to take some joy for yourself. Drop things in the comments that give you hope or silly things to make you smile. … Sarah posted this list yesterday … Continue reading Links: Reproductive Rights, Music, & More →

A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark is $2.99! I hope this isn’t a leftover deal that’s about to expire. I picked this one for a previous Hide Your Wallet. Historical fantasy mystery with a badass main character and a supportive girlfriend.
