The Duke Who Knew Too Much by Grace Callaway is 99c at Amazon! Elyse read this one and, for the most part, enjoyed it. She gave it a B:
Readers looking for a good historical mystery/romance or a historical with a little more kink will enjoy The Duke Who Knew Too Much. This is also the first book in a series–I know many of your credit cards just winced a little.

Starlight by Carrie Lofty, is full of CarrieS bait. The hero is an astronomy teacher. The heroine is a union leader in a mill. The novel is set in Glasgow in 1880, and it manages to present the possibility of a mill being run fairly without glamorizing what was grueling work under even ideal conditions. The biggest problem with the story is that the protagonists are so much at odds that it’s hard to believe in … Continue reading Starlight by Carrie Lofty →
Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

This HaBO comes from Christa, who is trying to track down a contemporary romance. Content warning for suicide: I am looking for a contemporary romance. I read the first few pages on my e-reader, but did not write the title or the author down. I don’t remember the date or year, but it was probably two or three years ago. The book was part of a series about a retreat for military veterans with PTSD. The people … Continue reading HaBO: Military Retreat on an Island →

Question: for the SBTB Movie Matinee this month, we’d like to change things up. Previously, we’ve watched the movies on our own, and posted our own thoughts in an entry. We’d like to make the SBTB Movie Matinee discussion more interactive, and we have two options for you to consider: Option 1: we designate a time to watch that month’s movie live together, in a chat room here on the site. Option 2: we watch the movie … Continue reading Movie Matinee Poll →

The Dream Hunter by Laura Kinsale is $1.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! This is a standalone historical romance and many reviews say this book is completely bonkers. Some also note that the audio is particularly good. Have you read this one? Is it as crazysauce as everyone says?

These two HaBOs come from Nadine. Both are historical romances, though one has a fantasy element: The first book takes place in the Renaissance (I think) era somewhere in Europe (Ireland or Scotland?) and it has to do with fairies and folk lore. I know that the heroine was some sort of fairy or elf and she had some sort of magical destiny. The biggest distinguishing details I can remember are that she had extremely … Continue reading HaBO Double Dose: Fairies & Cave Sex →
It’s Monday night and I could be watching all kinds of cool things like Cloverfield Paradox or paint drying, but instead I’m watching Arie, the most boring Bachelor ever, so you don’t have to. The two most “controversial” contestants are still on the show. That would be Krystal, who has been stirring up drama and who whisper talks to Arie so I have to rewind every time she says something to try and figure out what’s … Continue reading Elyse Watches The Bachelor-Episode Six: My Heart is Gonna Fall Out of My Ass →

RECOMMENDED: Bollywood and the Beast by Suleikha Snyder is 99c! This is the third book in the Bollywood Confidential series, and the previous books are also on sale. Elyse pulled a Bad Decisions Book Club to finish this one and gave it an A-:
So to sum it up, we have Beauty and the Beast, found family, surprise m/m love story that broke my fucking heart, and lovable curmudgeon. It was kind of like this book was written just for me.

Cover Awe is back! This is where we talk about covers that we find striking or covers that catch our eye more than most. Obviously, our tastes are completely subjective, but we hope you like the discussion! Sarah: Does that look familiar? It reminds me of – oh! Good job, my brain: Amanda: That’s probably why I like it so much. Also when the heck are we going to get Dragon Age 4 news?! Plus, … Continue reading Cover Awe: Dragons, Hats, & More →
