April Fool’s Day is a glorious, silly tradition here at the hot pink palace of chaos and goofy puns. I ponder ideas all year, and have a whole page in my notebook reserved for potential goofiness. I have a list of concepts, I make myself laugh – and I hope you smile a bit, too. This year: Bitchcoin, our terrific cryptocurrency! Y’all. The glossaries I read were full of potential hilarity. Jokes about hot wallets, hard … Continue reading April Fool’s 2022: BitchCoin! →

When I went looking for fat heroines in historical romance, I quickly learned to be skeptical of book covers. A main character might be plump, abundant, generously rounded, or my favorite, “a lady of healthy appetite,” but the model on the book cover will still be thin. A reader of fat histrom has to be a detective, examining each cover for clues: Is most of her body covered by a sheet? Is there a flower … Continue reading Fat Girls in History →
Welcome welcome, my lovelies! It’s Wednesday! New England is frigid and windy again. I’d love for it to be spring, but I also have terrible allergies. It’s a toss up right now really. April also means my birthday! I asked for either taxidermy or a weighted blanket (my two moods). I’ve also been playing a lot of Elden Ring. Anyone else on the video game bandwagon? I made an astrologer named Janice. Her backstory in my … Continue reading Links: Bridgerton, Dads, & More →

RECOMMENDED: Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger by $1.99! This is the first book in the Finishing School series, which Carrie recommends. This is young adult with a steampunk historical setting. Readers loved the creative, whimsical setting, though some expressed difficulty in reading a lot at one time. They had to take breaks every few chapters because of the overwhelming twee-ness.

Machi has been going along with what other people want for as long as she can remember, but she’s so sick of her parents nagging her to find a husband that she’s ready to marry someone they’d hate to spite them. She wasn’t expecting her best friend Hana to volunteer for the role though! Yep, we’re skipping the fake dating and going straight to marriage. That’s how we roll here. I Married My Best … Continue reading I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up by Kodama Naoko →

This HaBO is from Nathalie, who is hoping to find this contemporary romance: I read a book, I want to say I the last few years. The hero and heroine both live in San Francisco. She newly moved; she is blonde. He, I think, is newly divorced or out of a bad relationship. They are neighbors in the same building. They fall in love and she climbs into his balcony often. Comedy and angst. It’s … Continue reading HaBO: Heroine Frequently Visits His Balcony →

This HaBO request is from Kay, who is looking for this historical romance: This book has been eluding me for weeks… it’s set in England, Regency period or thereabouts. The hero (I think he’s possibly titled) was impoverished as a child, and left in his teens to join the Navy. Now, after years, he is traveling with his betrothed/wife, to meet his mother and sister. His sister has married a tradesman – a grocer – … Continue reading HaBO: Brother-in-Law is a Wealthy Grocer →
