Let’s start with what this book does well. It’s a really interesting premise and the world-building is good (if slow). A long time ago, the balance of magic was upset and now the Spirit of the Woods is taking over with a magical mist that kills people. Cue: a need to save the kingdom and those infected by magic. While the King is ostensibly trying to do this, he is prepared to sacrifice the captain … Continue reading One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig →

Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater is $2.99! This is book one in the Regency Faerie Tales series and subsequent books in the series were listed in latest Hide Your Wallet. There’s another YA vs. Adult debate for this one as well. I believe there is no sexual content in this one.

This HaBO comes from Chantelle, who wants to find this series: I read a book a while back. I can’t remember character names I’m afraid, just a vague idea of plot… Right at the start of the book the male main character was tied by his ankles, hanging upside down. Vaguely remember having a younger guy with him and deciding to escape when the younger man couldn’t hold out much longer? He works for private … Continue reading HaBO: Security Company Band of Misfits →

As you might imagine, I … Continue reading The Life Sim Games That Got Me Through Nursing School →

RECOMMENDED: The Secret Lives of Country Gentleman by KJ Charles is $1.99! I’m hoping this isn’t a leftover KDD from yesterday. Carrie gave this one a B+:
The strengths of this book are in the balancing of conflict with humor and optimism, the rich characterizations, and the portrayal of life on the marsh, as well as a romance between two opposites. It’s entertaining, exciting, and immersive. While I wanted a little more from the ending, I enjoyed this book overall!
