A Mystery, Contemporary Romances, & Deanne Gist!

Books on Sale: Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica & More

RECOMMENDED: Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica is $1.99 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! This is a mystery/thriller that Elyse really enjoyed, giving it an A grade, though she does give a trigger warning for child abuse in the book:

I love a thriller that makes me think, makes me question the narrator and isn’t  just about who buried the body in the woods. Pretty Baby is all those things, and combined with exquisite writing and an ending that comes together beautifully it was an A read for me.

Books on Sale: Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven & More

Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven is $2.99! I remember seeing this book everywhere, mainly because it has a pretty gorgeous cover. This is a New Adult romance where a hero and heroine have a bit of bad blood meet again during Broadway rehearsals. There is definitely a cliffhanger and some readers didn’t like the heroine’s lack of backbone. However, many loved the Broadway play setting and it has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

Romantic Suspense with Series Sales

Books on Sale: Targeted by Katie Reus & More

Targeted by Katie Reus is $1.99! This is the first book in the Deadly Ops romantic suspense series. The hero and heroine used to be in a relationship. Unfortunately, it’s been years since they’ve seen each other and now the hero is undercover with a new persona, tasked with getting close to the heroine to help with a case. Obviously, she doesn’t know it’s him. While readers loved the second chance romance combined with the hero’s disguise, some felt certain aspects of the story dragged a little long. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

RITA Reader Challenge Review

Honor Reclaimed by Tonya Burrows

Honor Reclaimed

Okay, let me start with a disclaimer: I’m in the military. I can’t read most military-themed romantic suspense novels, for two reasons: either they’re appallingly inaccurate, and/or they feature helpless women who endanger the heroes through their incompetence. This is one of the first military romances I’ve really enjoyed. Although there’s a strong and action-packed plot, the central conflict of this story is Seth’s PTSD. He lost his team, then was captured by the Taliban … Continue reading Honor Reclaimed by Tonya Burrows

Honor Reclaimed by Tonya Burrows

Honor Reclaimed

[Reviewer’s biases: This reviewer’s creds/quirks may help explain why I reacted so strongly to some elements in the book: Introvert. ADD. Previous panic disorder. Social and cultural anthropologist.] The Cover One must not judge this book by its cover because it is… Just. Plain. Wrong. 1) Our Hero, Seth, is recognized across a crowded marketplace by his blue eyes. Not grey, not white, not pale green; they were recognizably blue. 2) The Hero wore a … Continue reading Honor Reclaimed by Tonya Burrows

Romantic Suspense with a Couple of Boxed Sets

Books on Sale: SEAL of Honor by Tonya Burrows & More

SEAL of Honor by Tonya Burrows is $1.99! This is the first book in her romantic suspense HORNET series, which I’m guessing has nothing to do with the insect. I’m assuming that the other titles in the series will follow the rest of the hero’s team members, at least that’s what I’m hoping! Readers thought Burrows captured a great balance between romance and suspense, though some felt the plot got a little bit muddled halfway through the book. It has a 4-star rating on GoodReads.
