December’s New Releases

It’s December! And for us, it’s a pretty small month for new releases for us. I don’t know if our budgets could take another 20+ book month! Besides what we’re excited for, here are some big releases coming out that may be on your buy list: More from J.R. Ward! The second book in her Black Dagger Legacy is out – Blood Vow . Ilona Andrews’ Innkeeper Chronicles continues with the third book, One Fell Sweep . Rules of Contact  is book … Continue reading December’s New Releases

Books on Sale: Midnight’s Kiss by Thea Harrison & More

RECOMMENDED: Midnight’s Kiss by Thea Harrison is $2.99! This book is currently nominated for a RITA® in the Paranormal Romance category and received favorable reviews during our RITA® Reader Challenge.

DonnaMarie gave it an A:

There’s plenty of action between escaping and revenging and cleaning house. It moves along logically and nicely paced. You aren’t going to find yourself wondering why someone wanders off by themselves or doesn’t stay put when told to stay put. It’s pretty entertaining, but the real reason to read this is the relationship journey. I probably won’t articulate this as well as a more analytical thinker. The exploration of forgiveness and moving on after trust is betrayed is deeply effecting.

PamG gave it a B+:

On its own, this novel isn’t the most amazingly unique example of the paranormal romance sub-genre, but it is part of a pretty dynamic series. The writing is solid; characterization, strong–especially Melly’s–and world-building, consistent and interesting. A reader new to the series could easily follow the plot, might well enjoy it, but might not get what the hoopla is about. I do reread my favorite books and series, so I expect to reread this one at some point. Hence the B+. However, there was no Good Book Noise™ wafting up from the old recliner as I turned the last page, so Midnight’s Kiss fell a little short of an A. On the other hand, I was smiling.

Midnight’s Kiss

Funny story. Due to lots of unforeseen travel in the last month – Shepherding the Dread Pirate Robert’s cataract surgery (You scheduled it for when? What you mean I don’t need to be there? It’s so cute that you think that, Dad) and moving my goddaughter to Ohio (What do you mean what time am I getting there? We’re doing what this weekend? Didn’t we just get her potty trained last year?), I was not … Continue reading Midnight’s Kiss by Thea Harrison

Midnight’s Kiss

Trigger warning for violence and attempted rape. My friendly local bookstore clerk introduced me to Thea Harrison when I had just about despaired of finding any new authors of urban fantasy/paranormal romance that tickled my fancy. Harrison’s Elder Races books contained neither polite Canadian vampires nor humorous workarounds for vampire/shifter handicaps nor TSTL heroines who nevertheless triumph over all evil-doers. I totally fell in love with Pia and Dragos Cuelebre and gobbled up the rest … Continue reading Midnight’s Kiss by Thea Harrison
