Among my favorite things about Laurenston’s writing is how very affirming and inspiring and a whole lot of fun it is, because angry, fearless women make room for themselves, they get shit done, and they’re the heroines. More honey badgers, please.
Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews is $2.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. I’ve heard good things about this book and it has a mix of scifi and paranormal elements, and I really don’t know why I’m dragging my feet on reading this series. It isn’t price-matched yet, but maybe later!
Breaking Badger by Shelly Laurenston is $1.99! This is book four in the Honey Badger Chronicles series. This one came out at the end of August and was mentioned on Hide Your Wallet. What do we think of the new covers?
RECOMMENDED: The Roommate by Rosie Danan is $1.99! I liked this one and gave it a B+. Ellen also read the follow-up and gave that on a similar grade. I’m sure we’re both excited to see what’s next!
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), but we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading August 2021 New Releases, Part Two→
The Prince of Broadway by Joanna Shupe is $1.99! I stalled on finishing this one, but these were my thoughts: great chemistry and I love the hero is pretty upfront about wanting revenge on the heroine’s dad. He tells her so. However, it takes place simultaneously with the events of The Rogue of Fifth Avenue, so the dad in question is still terrible to his daughters.
The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Steward is $1.99! This fantasy novel was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet, though I’ve heard it can be a little bit of a dark read. I think both Elyse and Carrie read it and have shared mostly favorable thoughts.
Too Much by Rachel Vorona Cote is $2.99! This nonfiction book was featured on both Hide Your Wallet & Cover Awe. This one is definitely in our house of wheels. Did you pick it up after seeing it mentioned here?
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers is $1.99! This scifi novel has been recommended and loved by many of my friends, and talked about highly in my book group. The book has some great queer representation, though readers remarked it’s more character driven than plot driven. And what a coincidence that it’s on sale as we just mentioned this in yesterday’s Whatcha Reading!

An Improper Arrangement by Kasey Michaels is $1.99! This is the first book in The Little Season series and features a romance between an American heiress and her chaperone in London. Readers warn that the book starts slowly, but many loved the banter between the hero and heroine.
