Happy Tuesday! It’s the last release week in August. How are we feeling? Because I have to tell you, September is looking brutal for new releases. I personally had to whittle my preorders down to five books. This week, a highly anticipated release from a known bestseller, a historical romance, and shifters, make it onto our to-read lists. Which new releases made it onto your TBR piles? Let us know in the comments!
Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez is $2.99! I believe Jimenez’s latest release. Tropes for this one include forced proximity and some no strings attached elements.
The Late Mrs. Willoughby by Claudia Gray is $2.99! This is book two of the Mr. Darcy & Miss Tilney Mysteries series. I remember Sarah mentioning and being excited for the first book. Not sure if these can be read as standalones, so please sound off in the comments.
West End Earl by Bethany Bennett is $2.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! This is book two in the Misfits of Mayfair series and we talked about this one on a previous Cover Awe. That yellow is so lovely. The heroine has disguised herself as a man and the hero is her employer.
Many of the book’s themes are around friendship–loving a friend but hiding parts of yourself, learning to connect with other women, and the perils of competitive friendships. I loved A Lady for a Duke, it’s a must-read for historical romance fans looking for a new take on Regency friends-to-lovers.
It’s the last Tuesday of November and we’re wrapping things up with some pretty exciting books. We’ve got honey badgers, historical romances with fake dating, and a couple series starters from well-reviewed authors. We’re quickly cruising toward the end of 2023, where we’ll continue these weekly posts and starting working on “Best of” content. How are you all liking the weekly release posts? And which books are you hoping to snag this week?
Breaking Badger by Shelly Laurenston is $1.99! This is book four in the Honey Badger Chronicles series. This one came out a little over a year ago and was mentioned on Hide Your Wallet. What do we think of the new covers?
This is a character-focused book and is all about the romance between Jesse and Kerry, as well as the importance of family, friendship, and community. Also there’s a lot of knitting.
Everything about When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare worked for me. Everything. Bust out the squee mop, y’all because this review is just going to be a flappy-hands Good Book Noise® mess.
Things this book has:
1. A sexy Scot hero I pictured as Sam Heughan.
2. A heroine who is a naturalist and illustrator.
3. Tons of UST.
4. A completely crazy sauce plot that Dare pulls off flawlessly.
The Princess Knight by G.A. Aiken is $1.99 and it’s also part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, which feature a ton of romance! This is book two in the Scarred Earth Saga. I loved and reviewed the first book and Lara reviewed this one, giving it a B:
The cast of characters EXPLODES in this book. Pay attention to each and every new character; they are all important. We pop into a lot of different POVs which can be a little dizzying, but adds beautifully to the immersive world building of it all.
A Thorn in the Saddle by Rebekah Weatherspoon is 99c! I believe this is Weatherspoon’s most recent release and came out in October. It was mentioned in a Hide Your Wallet post and is book three in her Cowboys of California series.
