Hide that wallet because we’re talking about new releases! The good news is that the rest of this month is looking pretty light. We get to take a nice little break and given our wallets and library holds a rest. All we have are contemporary romances on our list this week, but they feature gaming, scene-stealing animals, and broadway performers. What books are you excited for this week? Tell us in the comments!

The Love Con by Seressia Glass is $1.99! This one has cosplay, friends to lovers, and all sorts of nerdery. I remember there were some comments that going into medicine and getting into cosplay were not mutually exclusive, but I wonder if its more that the heroine wants to do this as a career. I haven’t read the book though.

Verity and the Forbidden Suitor by J.J. McAvoy is $1.99! This is book two in the DuBells series and Shana gave it a B-:
Verity and the Forbidden Suitor is not a stand alone book, y’all. I started reading and immediately flailed in a sea of characters that I might have cared about if I’d read the first book in the series. I was annoyed, but the book eventually settled down into an unabashedly romantic, and slightly gothic, story set in a racially mixed nobility reminiscent of Bridgerton.

If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading December 2021 New Releases, Part One →

Cover Awe is back today! This is where we discuss covers that have recently caught our eyes, though we might not always agree. Amanda: Well that is stunning. It reminds me a lot of those 3D paper crafts people do. Sarah: Oh, gosh. The paper cut look is gorgeous. Vicky Scott does similar work – she did illustrations for SBTB, too and I love them. What a fantastic cover. Elyse: I love this cover. First … Continue reading Cover Awe: Mermaids, Cookies, & Shiny Stuff →

Shadow Blade by Seressia Glass is 99c! This is the first book in the Shadowchasers urban fantasy series. There’s a lot of Egyptian mythology, which readers felt was a breath of fresh air in the UF genre. However, some felt the world building was more interesting than the characters. Have you read this one?

The stock blurb for this book is misleading in several ways, so here’s a more accurate version: Thirty-five year-old Siobhan “Sugar” Malloy, co-owner of Sugar and Spice Café and a part-time burlesque performer, is “treading emotional water,” reluctant to get involved with anyone due to some emotionally damaging events in her past—especially a handsome younger man who seems to have his life together. Responsible, hardworking, and dedicated to his career, Charlie is immediately attracted to … Continue reading Sugar by Seressia Glass →
Sugar is a novel about Siobhan Malloy, a 35 year old woman who co-owns a cafe/bakery with her best friend in a small town. And that’s where the cliches end. Siobhan is unique – she’s a recovering addict who has fought hard for the normalcy she has now. She also dances in a burlesque show as a hobby and likes to stand out with her retro sense of style. Charlie is a younger man, a … Continue reading Sugar by Seressia Glass →
