Welcome back to Wednesday Links! For me, February and August are some of the longest months…and I mean that psychologically. Time crawls at a snail’s pace and soon I will have to say goodbye to my blissful summer office schedule. We also have a little over a month left in SBTB Bingo and as someone participating, wow. I sure did a tricky job with these squares. You all have my sympathies! Sarah and I have … Continue reading Links: Data, Walks, & More →
Hello, everyone! I am officially back in the States! Thank you for all the birthday wishes and if you wish to see some of my adventures, feel free to look at my Instagram. The trip was wonderful and full of delicious food. I will also have to return to South Korea in about a month because my baby brother (yes, he is 30 but will always be “baby brother”) is getting married! Very excited, but since … Continue reading Links: Maps, Sci-Fi, & More →
It’s our first Wednesday Links of June! Happy Pride everybody! Both my partner and I are queer people, so we’re trying to nail down our Pride plans. We’re very torn between going to a Pride celebration and seeing a coworker’s queer colorguard performance in a parade or honestly, being introverts and celebrating amongst ourselves in front of our AC unit. Warm temps in New England aren’t the kindest when you live on the second and … Continue reading Links: Knitting Scandals, Parody Songs, & More →
Welcome back to Wednesday Links! I am sick, everyone! Sore throat, aches, the whole nine. Gotta say, I don’t recommend it. In the meantime, my old cat and I had a sleepover at my partner’s place because they have amazing heat and it was in the negatives this past weekend. It went well, all things considered (namely monitoring Linus around a ton of new plants he definitely wants to eat). It’s since warmed up, thank … Continue reading Links: Weddings, Science, & More →
Nightmare Fuel: The Science of Horror Films was balm to my nerdy little heart. I got into horror much the same way I got into romance, which is to say I thought I didn’t like it, then realized I had been liking it all along somehow without noticing, and then I couldn’t get enough of it. There are some interesting intersections between romance and horror as genres, and I know we have some fans here … Continue reading Nightmare Fuel by Nina Nesseth →
Welcome back to Wednesday Links! This is where we talk about and share neat links from around the internet. Did you know it’s June? And have I mentioned that I really dislike summer? Because both things are true! But enough about my seasonal gripes! Let’s go! … LitHub has a piece “On the Evolution of Female-Driven Gothic Narratives” that may be of interest to the Bitchery. And yes, there are recommendations! … I am so … Continue reading Links: Gothics, Dogs, & More →

Welcome back to Wednesday Links! I feel like this week is just flying by, but it may just be me. Obviously the Meghan and Harry interview has been a topic of conversation on Slack. Did you watch it? Oprah is certainly a master at the art of the interview. Let’s get into some links, shall we? … I love photography contests, especially when nature is involved. Here are the 2020 winners of the Ocean Art … Continue reading Links: Science, Brendan Fraser, & More →
Hi there! February is coming to an end. Are y’all ready? I know in New England, February tends to be the worst month for winter. It’s just icy and gross and I hate it. Also, I want to extend a big thank you to the Bitchery for interacting and being part of these Links posts every Wednesday. Sarah and I started this feature on a whim and it’s been really great to exchange cool internet … Continue reading Links: Ferrets, Kate Bush, & More →
Welcome back to Wednesday links! It is Wednesday right? I have no concept of time and the fact that the sun sets at 3:30pm right now is the worst. As always, the end of the year means exciting stuff on the site, namely our Hanukkah giveaways and our Best Of lists. Thank you for being with us for another year and of course, we hope you stick around for what we have planned in 2020. … … Continue reading Links: A Feel Good Video, Robots, & More →
Happy first Wednesday of February! After a pretty cold spell in New England, it’s unseasonably warm. I hope all of your reading is going well. So far, I’ve read some great books this year, but I’m worried about how much that is going to crash and burn. The streak has to end sometime. … Blush Magazine has launched! It’s a digital magazine for romance lovers and I’m interviewed in the first issue. I get to … Continue reading Links: Spotify, Shipping, & Netflix Adaptations →
I go through animal obsessions in stages and currently I’m (PLATONICALLY) interested in cephalopods. I’ve read a few books that involve cephalopods (squid, cuttlefish, octopuses, nautilus) and I’ve seen some weird shit, you guys. They are especially popular in the steampunk genre and in Lovecraftian horror. For example, fictional items which feature cephalopods that we’ve reviewed here include: The Farthest Shore by Marian Perera Fantasy in which a young woman has a mind meld with … Continue reading Other Minds: The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness by Peter Godfrey-Smith →
