The combination of personal catnip with descriptive language and complex characterization is spot on. I recommend this for fans of vocal feminism, found family, angst, and explicit sex in their historicals. I plan to read my copy many, many times!
Let’s take a look at some gorgeous covers! Cover art by Valentina Remenar Lara: Oh, I love that cover! Sneezy: That’s so atmospheric! Sarah: Well damn. Amanda: The position of the smoke! The dripping tea (or is it?). The image of the city within her body. Such great composition! Sarah: The hair over her eye! Echoed by the smoke! Sarah: This is pretty. Amanda: This reminds me of those I Spy books and you have … Continue reading Cover Awe: We Have a Clinch!→

Happy Tuesday! We’re closing out the month rather strongly with ten releases we’re looking forward to! There are series continuations, retellings, and mysteries. The beginning of July looks packed with great books too! Which releases are you ready for? Let us know in the comments!
Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep is the first book in a fantasy series that features a badass female gladiator on a quest to reclaim the throne from her murderous cousin. It’s tremendous fun, although it wraps up quickly.
Witchful Thinking by Celestine Martin is $2.99! I believe this is Martin’s debut romance with some light, witchy vibes. This was mentioned on a previous witch-themed Hide Your Wallet. Carrie reviewed this one and gave it a B-.
The Portrait of a Duchess by Scarlett Peckham is $2.99! This is book two in the Society of Sirens historical romance series. However, I’ve heard it’s a disappointing installment from Peckham. Also I think I saw this as a Kindle Daily Deal last week, so this price could expire soon.
Welcome back to Cover Awe! Cover design by Leah Jacobs-Gordon Amanda: What a sunny cover that definitely taps into my longing for winter to end already. Sarah: That’s a cover I would cross a room to look at. Kiki: This is so beautifully warm that it feels like it is actively glowing—perfect color design. Cover art by Ravven From Joanne: I had this preordered before it had a cover, and it arrived on my kindle … Continue reading Cover Awe: Bright and Golden Colors→
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), and we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading March 2023 New Releases, Part One→
RECOMMENDED: The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham is $1.99! I haven’t seen any updates about new releases aside from something on Amazon for next March (SO FAR!), but I hope we get some soon! Carrie read this one and have it an A-:
