RECOMMENDED: Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price-matched. Elyse & I really enjoyed this horror/sci-fi novel. We jointly reviewed the book and ultimately decided on a B. We loved the cast of characters, but found the ending anticlimactic.
Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen is 99c at Amazon! It doesn’t seem to be a Kindle Daily Deal, so hopefully it’ll start being price-matched. I’ve heard great things about this book and it has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads. Readers loved the writing and sense of place created, but others found there to be too much farm talk and a lackluster romance. I also believe this was mentioned at our RT17 Reader Recommendation Party!
Off Base by Annabeth Albert is 99c! This is a contemporary m/m romance with forced proximity, as the two heroes seem to be roommates. One of them is also a virgin if that’s your catnip. Many readers found this to be a pretty satisfying read. However, some felt they wanted more depth and connection with the characters.
RECOMMENDED: Too Hot to Handle by Tessa Bailey is $1.99 at most vendors! It’s also $2.99 at Barnes & Noble. I love Bailey’s writing so much. Her dialogue is realistic and fun, and her dirty talk between characters is top notch. I loved the setup of an estranged family’s cross-country road trip. But I will admit the chemistry between the hero and heroine wavered at times.
Knowing the Score by Kat Latham is $1.99 at Amazon! It’s available at other vendors, but for $3.99. This is a contemporary sports romance – set in the world of rugby. I mentioned this book on a previous podcast episode. It has a 3.7 average, and readers at GR liked the humor and the dialogue between the hero and heroine (though some reviews warn of a slow start to the story). Kat Latham also made an appearance in this year’s DABWAHA tournament!
Serial killer. And Ghost of St. Giles vigilante. And river pirate. And bondage.
If any or all of those things appeal to you, I’d really recommend this book. If you’re looking for a spicy historical, or one not focused around the glittering aristocracy, Wicked Intentions fits the bill. Aside from a few ball scenes, this book takes place among the working class of London.
RECOMMENDED: The Rook by Daniel O’Malley is a Kindle Daily Deal at $2.99! Carrie loves the series, especially the sequel Stiletto. It’s urban fantasy set in London with a badass cast of characters. But some found the book to have a lot of info-dumping. Have you read The Rook?
The Wedding Vow by Cara Connelly is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance and is the second book in her Save the Date series. For those with a hankering for billionaire heroes, this book’s got ’em. This is also an enemies-to-lovers story. Readers loved the back and forth between the characters and the fact the book can be read as a standalone installment. However, the hero has a bit of a secret that not all readers liked. It has a 4.1-star rating on GR.
