Bountiful by Sarina Bowen is 99c at Amazon! Right now, it’s not being price-matched and is listed at $3.99 elsewhere. This is a small town romance with a secret baby. So many of my fellow romance readers love the True North series, and if you’re looking to start, the first book is free!
What I found the most interesting about this book was how the blind hero was written. He hadn’t always been blind – he was struck by a disease while he was in the Navy – and the narrative describes with abundant detail how he moves through a world he can’t see, but he still perceives. And I really appreciated that she doesn’t magically cure him of his blindness. Love doesn’t cure all things, and this is a part of who he is now.
December is here and that means our last batch of new releases before 2018 starts! For me, personally, it’s a surprisingly subdued batch of books. However, the rest of the Bitches have more than made up for it. Here are a couple more books due to come out this month: After the Wedding by Courtney Milan is supposed to be released this month. Unfortunately, buy links aren’t up quite yet. Kristen Ashley begins a new series … Continue reading December’s New Releases→
Roar by Cora Carmack is $2.99! This is a YA fantasy with romance, royalty, and magic. This is also a Kindle Daily Deal that is being price-matched. Do check out the other deals today, as Poldark is also on sale, as well as subsequent books. I think there’s a bit of a cliffhanger, though I’m not 100% positive.
September is here! And I probably could have done this post with just my input because it’s a really expensive one for me. I will also not apologize for the amount of fantasy YA coming out that I want to get my grabby hands on. But these new releases are by no means an exhaustive list of amazing books, so here are a few more popular choices to stick on your TBR pile: Sarah J. … Continue reading September’s New Releases→
Shrill by Lindy West is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. I also encourage you to check out the rest of today’s deals too. The book does deal with Lindy’s experience with eating, rape culture, and internet trolls, so there’s some pretty heavy stuff. It has a 4.2-star rating on Goodreads.
Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen is 99c at Amazon! It doesn’t seem to be a Kindle Daily Deal, so hopefully it’ll start being price-matched. I’ve heard great things about this book and it has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads. Readers loved the writing and sense of place created, but others found there to be too much farm talk and a lackluster romance. I also believe this was mentioned at our RT17 Reader Recommendation Party!
Intercepting the Chef by Rachel Goodman is $1.99! I was excited about this book in this month’s Hide Your Wallet post because it blends two of my catnips: an athlete and a foodie character. Readers thought this was a great start to a new series, but found that the heroine was difficult to like at times.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is $1.99! This book and series is insanely popular and has Beauty and the Beast elements. However, some felt it didn’t live up to the hype or it had too much sexxxytimes for a YA-positioned book. Have you read this one?
Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen is $1.99 at most vendors and $2.99 at Barnes & Noble! This is book one in the Brooklyn Bruisers series about a hockey team. The second book, which Elyse loved, is discounted a couple bucks. Readers loved the second chance romance in this book, but found the pacing in the first half a big slow.
RECOMMENDED: A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn is $2.99 at Amazon! This is a historical mystery and Sarah really enjoyed it. She also immediately read the second one after finishing the first. Here’s what she said:
I read A Curious Beginning with an I-cannot-put-this-down enthusiasm and devoured it very quickly. I relished both the characters and the mystery. The Veronica Speedwell series is excellent and intelligent fun, and while the second isn’t quite as satisfying as the first, I heartily recommend them both.
