I love a good scary mystery, and The Sun Down Motel had all the elements to make it perfect. I loved the Gothic atmosphere, the theme of women coming together to get justice for other women, and the excellent momentum of the pacing. Other than possibly being too spooky for some, I can’t come up with a single reason why anyone should avoid this book.
Some Dukes Have All the Luck by Christina Britton is $1.99! There’s so much catnip in this description that I may pick it up for myself. It’s book one in the Synneful Spinsters, which judging by the title, could be a spin-off from Britton’s Isle of Synne series.
The Perks of Loving a Wallflower by Erica Ridley is $1.99! This is book two in The Wynchesters historical romance series. This one has been mentioned a couple times on the site, including a Hide Your Wallet post and Get Rec’d with Amanda.
Welcome back to Hide Your Wallet! Lots of interesting picks this week, though they do skew heavily on the contemporary romance side. Have any of you noticed that we aren’t getting a ton of historical romance debuts or new books? Or am I just out of the loop? Which books are on your list this week? Drop ’em in the comments!
Out of Character by Annabeth Albert is $1.99! This is part of the True Colors series and features all sorts of nerdery and fandom culture, if you like that in your romances. I’ve heard this series skews a little more toward New Adult. Thoughts?
Hey, everyone! How’s it going? I’m back with another round of recommendations for all types of readers. I even selfishly included one I keep getting that I want some second opinions on. This time, we have a Medusa story, a love story anthology, and non-fiction. Get any good recommendations lately? I would love to hear about them in the comments!
First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel is $2.99! This is a contemporary romance where two exes become roommates. We featured this one on a previous edition of Cover Awe. Shana gave this a B-:
Readers who like to root for a couple who are up against a closed-minded community, and who sympathize with an anxious, and occasionally strident heroine, would enjoy First Love, Take Two. If you’re looking for a standalone romance, low angst, and a couple with stellar communications skills, this might not be for you. Either way, my fellow foodies will want platters of buttermilk biscuits and tacos at hand while you read.
It’s Tuesday, which means dozens and dozens of new books are hitting the shelves and ereaders! This week we have some spicy contemporaries, historical romances, and even a YA romance inspired by a classic rom-com. What’s your TBR pile looking like this week? Anything you’re really excited for?
The Trouble with Hating You by Sajni Patel is $2.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Sajni Patel gets some really great covers. Her newest one was featured on Cover Awe. Have any of you read this one? What’d you think?
RECOMMENDED: The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang is $1.99! This is the third book in The Kiss Quotient trilogy, which I loved. I liked this one a lot. Yes, I consider it to be a romance. However, I’m not sure if or when I’ll do a re-read as it deals heavily with caring for a parent, especially one with which the heroine has really complicated dynamics. I had to do that over the pandemic and it was a very personal and emotional read for me.
Fated Blades by Ilona Andrews is $2.49! Lots of Andrews fans here! This is book three in the Kinsmen series, which I’m not familiar with. Do these have to be read in order? Would love to know!
