August is here and it begins on a Tuesday! It’s a pretty sparse week for us in terms of books we’re looking forward to. When peeping at our New Release spreadsheet, it feels like our weeks alternate between slow and heavy for new books. What’s your own new release list looking like? The same? Or is it slow/busy all month?
Just Like This by Cole McCade is $1.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, and features an opposites attract romance between two teachers. This is the second book in the Albin Academy series, but I think it would work fine on its own. Correct me if I’m wrong!

RECOMMENDED: Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones is $2.99! This has some hefty Labyrinth and Phantom of the Opera vibes. There’s also a quasi-cliffhanger if you aren’t a fan of bittersweet endings. We did a fantastic podcast episode with the author and discussed her writing a heroine with a mental illness. I did a cocktail for this one, too! And…I gave it an A- grade on the site.

This may be the hardest review I’ve ever had to write because there are just so many things trying to escape my mind at one time. My love of Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones has been broadcasted on my Twitter and I even made a super delicious cocktail for it. The prose is beautiful, lyrical, and it seems to surrounded you. This is definitely a book that drags you into it. You won’t be able to … Continue reading Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones →
As I’m writing this, Boston is getting hit with a snowstorm, delivering 8-14 inches (hehehe). Both of my roommates are working from home with me, so this drink cocktail post has turned into a full day-drinking party. I couldn’t be happier. Snow. A beautiful, boozy cocktail. Good books. Marie has Swing Time by Zadie Smith. Stephanie has At the Edge of the Universe by Shaun David Hutchinson. And me…I’m finishing up Wintersong and oh, boy. … Continue reading Covers & Cocktails Giveaway: Crescendo →
February is here! So give us all the new books, plzkthx! It’s a bit of a smaller month for the SBTB HQ’s book budget, but there are a handful of other books that we know a bunch of you are hearing about or are waiting to buy. Here are a few that are probably on your TBR lists, even if they aren’t on ours: A Conjuring of Light is the third and final book in … Continue reading February’s New Releases →
