High Noon by Nora Roberts is $2.99 right now. This is suspense Nora (as opposed to contemporary Nora or paraNora), and it has a 3.9-star average. Readers who liked it really liked the suspense and the very tough, very smart heroine (who is assaulted so trigger warning, k?) who reminded some of Eve Dallas. If you like suspense or know someone who does, this may make their reading week better.

My name is Elyse, and I’m a Nora Roberts virgin. Well, I was; I punched that v-card reading The Liar. I have to say losing my Nora virginity was more enjoyable and less awkward than losing my actual virginity. Also, like every old skool historical heroine, I feel like only Nora can give me what I want again. Witness my credit card bill, full of Nora one-click buys. The thing I loved about The Liar was that … Continue reading The Liar by Nora Roberts →

Take a Chance on Me by Jennifer Dawson is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a runaway bride and a bartender. It’s also the first book in the Something New series. Readers thought this was a great first book in a new series, though some found the story to be a little too cute. Anyone taking a chance on this book? (Harhar, see what I did there?)

RECOMMENDED: Playing Dirty by HelenKay Dimon is $1.99! This is a romantic suspense and is the first book in the Bad Boys Undercover series. Elyse reviewed the book earlier this year and gave it an A:
Playing Dirty is also action-driven, with excellent pacing. I felt like I gobbled this book down in record time, only to realize my neck hurt because I’d been sitting in the exact same position for one glorious OM-NOM-NOM session until it was done.

This HaBO was sent in by SciFiGirl, who is looking for a romance she never finished (horror!): Hello, Bitches! I need your help. I’ve been trying to remember a book I started reading years ago–back when I was in my freshman year of high school. The thing is I don’t remember all that much about it, although I’m fairly certain that it was a romance novel as it was in a basket of books (all … Continue reading HaBO: It was Her First Romance But She Didn’t Finish It →

In His Command by Rie Warren is $1.99! This is a M/M dystopian romance and is the first book in the Don’t Tell series. It also seems to have a bit of a bodyguard plot and I know that’s some heavy catnip! Some readers felt the post-apocalyptic setting was a little too dark and depressing at times, but many really enjoy the two heroes. In GoodReads reviews, the term “alpha males” is thrown around a lot. It has a 3.5-star rating on GR.

This Help a Bitch Out request is from Hailee, who is searching for a paranormal suspense novel with some crying involved: I am trying to find a book. Here are the parts I remember (hopefully it is the same book). Contemporary. A group of guys working together in a military/SEAL/security company/mercenary type way. (I’m leaning toward private sector, like security company, becuase I don’t think there was a military structure). Here is a part I … Continue reading HaBO: Paranormal Empath Makes the Dudes Cry →

Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal is $2.99! This is the first book in the Glamourist Histories series; the third fourth book, Valour and Vanity, is nominated in the Novel with Strong Romantic Elements category for this year’s DABWAHA. This book was also a Nebula nominee and an nominee for the RT Reviewers’ Choice Award in the fantasy category. The book is often compared to Jane Austen, but with fantasy thrown in. Some readers agree with this assessment, while others are affronted by it. For those who have read it, what camp are you in?

RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is 99c! And I can honestly say that it’s worth the damn dollar. I’d even pay five whole dollars for this. Maybe more. This is a romantic suspense and I read the book late last year, giving it an A–:
It truly is a beautifully written book. It’s emotional and engaging and truly exemplifies what I want in my romantic suspenses.

SEAL of Honor by Tonya Burrows is $1.99! This is the first book in her romantic suspense HORNET series, which I’m guessing has nothing to do with the insect. I’m assuming that the other titles in the series will follow the rest of the hero’s team members, at least that’s what I’m hoping! Readers thought Burrows captured a great balance between romance and suspense, though some felt the plot got a little bit muddled halfway through the book. It has a 4-star rating on GoodReads.

At Wolf Ranch by Jennifer Ryan is a romantic suspense with a sexy cowboy hero that both Amanda and I loved. Ella and Lela Wolf are twins and heiresses set to take ownership of their late father’s company when they turn 25. One night Ella receives a strange call from Lela and returns home just in time to see their uncle Phillip murder her. Ella overhears Phillip and a corrupt police detective as they plan … Continue reading At Wolf Ranch by Jennifer Ryan →
