There are so many sales on so many things going on this week. There’s the long tail of Black Friday, then Cyber Monday and Small Tuesday and Giving Wednesday and keeping up with it makes me want to lie down in the dark. But I thought about it for a bit (in the dark of course) and in response I have one request for this week’s gift guide: Please name a book that makes a … Continue reading Holiday Gift Guide: Gifting Books and Linking Indies →

RECOMMENDED: The Boxing Baroness by Minerva Spencer is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal. Carrie reviewed this and gave it B+:
The more grounded in history the novel was, the more I liked it. For instance, I enjoyed seeing how Marianne trained every day. However, people with more patience for plot than I will love the same increasing complications that just made me want to take a nap. There’s something here for everyone and I look forward to the next book, The Dueling Duchess.

Sunshine by Robin McKinley is $1.99! McKinley has been recommended several times at SBTB HQ. Some readers label this as young adult and, for the most part, I’d agree with that sentiment. According to reviews on Goodreads, there were complaints about the balance of narrative to action, but many loved this different take on the vampire story. RECOMMENDED: An Unkindness of Magicians by Kat Howard is $2.99! This is part of the two pages of Kindle Daily Deals today and is bring price-matched. I would recommended this only if you’re in a “burn it all down” mood. The book is violent, graphic, and the characters experience racism, sexism, and the like. But the main character is a witch who essentially wants to dismantle the ruling magic party because they’re terrible.

Roar by Cora Carmack is $2.99! This is a YA fantasy with romance, royalty, and magic. This is also a Kindle Daily Deal that is being price-matched. Do check out the other deals today, as Poldark is also on sale, as well as subsequent books. I think there’s a bit of a cliffhanger, though I’m not 100% positive.
