I had a really good time reading this book. I loved the detail, the integration of fantasy and chemistry and history and alchemy into the world of a Scottish castle in the 1300s, and I really liked Sophia and Cathal.
His Dark Magic by Pat Esden is 99c! I mentioned this in this month’s Hide Your Wallet and if you were excited about it like I was, you can grab it for less than a buck! Readers thought this was a great start to a new series, while others thought the romance and fantasy balance was a bit skewed.
You Can’t Touch My Hair by Phoebe Robinson is $2.99! Readers say this memoir is hilarious and I believe it, as someone who listens to Robinson’s podcast, 2 Dope Queens. However, others say the book has a great first half, but the essays decline in interest after that. Have you read this one?

In the Middle of Somewhere by Roan Parrish is 99c! This is a gay romance that is a 2016 DABWAHA nominee. The book made it to round two, but was beaten by Elle Kennedy’s The Deal. Reader Judy W. called the book “outstanding” in a previous Whatcha Reading, though some found the dialogue to be repetitive with too much filler. Have you read this one?
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh is $2.99! If you haven’t noticed, we’re doing a big giveaway for the series and have an excerpt from the new novella. This is a YA fantasy novel with romance elements and is a retelling of A Thousand and One Nights. Readers love the world Ahdieh built, but do mention there seems to be a love triangle in the first book that doesn’t quite work well. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
