Duchess by Design by Maya Rodale is $1.99! This is the first book in the Gilded Age Girls Club series. Elyse read this one, but gave it a B-, as she didn’t believe the hero really deserved the heroine. Have you read this one? Do you agree with Elyse’s assessment.

TRIGGER WARNING for discussions of suicide and rape. There are certain types of books that when I read them, I need mood music, which is why my dad eventually found me listening to Christmas music on the hottest day of the year. Seeing as he believes Christmas music is only appropriate from December 18th to the 25th, he was not amused. I, however, was too wrapped up in this book to care — and, honestly, … Continue reading Snowfall on Haven Point by RaeAnne Thayne →

Southern Pies by Nancie McDermott is $2.99! I have such a sweet tooth and I love dessert books. This cookbook has around 70 recipes, including recipes for lemon chess and chocolate pecan pies. Readers on Goodreads mention that they loved how the cookbook is organized and that the directions were easy to follow.

Redemption Bay begins with a tired but happy and cheerful woman strolling home after work. I was slightly puzzled as to who was narrating the book, though that was mostly resolved with the vague reference to “unavoidable mayoral business” over the course of her busy day at the flower and gift shop she owns. McKenzie Shaw is the Heroine of the story and Mayor of Haven Point, Idaho. McKenzie’s vitriolic reactions to meeting The Hero, … Continue reading Redemption Bay by RaeAnne Thayne →
You might have heard that Google is feeding its artificial intelligence romance novels to enable it to move from its stiff, factual communication style to something more realistic and conversational. Guy from California comes to Twee Wee Town with … Continue reading A Cold Creek Christmas Story by RaeAnne Thayne →

RECOMMENDED: The Deal by Elle Kennedy is 99c! This book was recommended to me by so many people at this year’s RT Booklover’s Convention. I really loved how the heroine’s past trauma was handled, though the romance felt a little too instant for me. I wound up giving it a B-:
I will give some kudos to some pretty primo sex scenes though. Since Hannah has expressed difficulties with orgasming during sex, Garrett pulls out all the stops to make sure she’s comfortable enough to get off. It’s actually kind of…sweet. Especially when Hannah cries and launches herself into his arms afterward because it’s been years since she had an orgasm with anyone but herself.

In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins is $1.99! This is a wintry contemporary romance and I have to say that I just love this cover. It’s cute and cozy and I want that dog. This is the fourth book in the Blue Heron series and has the heroine taking the hero as her date to her ex-fiance’s wedding. Fans of the series love this latest installment, saying that the books just keep getting better. For some readers, the book felt too short, as did the romance. It has a 4-star rating on GR.
